well done JaB, you've identified every car...bar the first Alfa!

Re: Alfas in film?

Not exactly a film, but the character Mick in the axed Brookside soap always drove an Alfa. I think he had a 164 then a 156.

Also many years ago there was a joyriding plotline in E'stenders and the victim car was a red 33.

[Apols to Wrinx for mentioning E'stenders]

I noticed that in "Waking the dead " last night (Monday) Spence was driving an Alfa. The engine failed though whilst being chased. Probably the cam-belt!!!!!!!!!!!! No, i think it was the bullets in it actually!!

Re: Alfas in film?

A slightly lesser known, recent Billy Connolly film "The Man who sued God" features a female journalist who drives an Alfa. Not sure what model exactly and not about to leave myself open for a slagging by getting it wrong.

Cheers

Re: Alfas in film?

@ alfatastic: yep, you are correct. You may now have some sugar in your tea as a treat.

@ roland: you won't be slagged off for getting an Alfa model wrong. You will merely be shot.

Re: Alfas in film?

Last night on Channel 4, first time it's been shown on UK terrestrial TV.......

An Al Pacino film from 2002 called Simone, or "S1M0NE" (with 1 and zero) as its about a computer generated actress.

A black 2600 Spider is used in the film within a film and later as a present to Al Pacino's daughter.

Re: Alfas in film?

..in XXX (?!) that diesel chap blows up a 164.
also, i think it's "tree colours red" that starts off with a car crash scene?
well again it's a 164 that crashes.. into a tree cos it's brakes fail. there's a "thank you" to alfa in the end credits though..

I watched the first half of that as well. Finished too late to watch the whole lot, but that Alfa was beautiful!

The Mechanic 1972 with Charles Bronson.

A Dark Blue Giulia chased by a Alfa 2600 saloon. The Giulia ends up pushed over a cliff near Naples.

Re: Alfas in film?

Saw Lucky Number Slevin last night, and I'm sure I spotted a Spider... .look in the shot when the kid is left in the car car with the watch in the car park as his old man goes to the races, the camera switches to an almost aerial shot and zooms out, don't blink and you might just catch a red spider amongst the american beef.

Good film as well btw.

Re: Alfas in film?

About halfway through the film Kinky Boots a bloke loads some 'stuff' into the boot of a Stromboli Grey GT parked in the background of the main scene.

*Edit* - Mrs R says I'm sad for even noticing never mind informing other people.

Nobodys mentioned "The Graduate", where Dustin Hoffman drives a Duetto "boat tail". Nice sound track

Was the 'Graduate' model named after the film?

A quick thread revitalisation as I watched Sky High last night (Japenese cop/supernaural thing - not very good).

Look what I spotted Check out the tiny cop light on the roof

Judge John Deed repeat on last night....166 driven by a naughty MP Some blatant product placement when the car stopped and the screen was full of the front grill

Re: Alfas in film?

Michelle Pfeiffer had an Alfa Spider (and Mel Gibson!) in the late 80s film Tequila Sunrise.

Dennis Lawson drove a silver 33 in the TV series The Justice Game, when he played Glasgow lawyer Dominic Rossi.

Alain Delon drove a Giulia Super and a Dutch Blue Alfetta in a couple of French thrillers, but I don't remember their names. The Alfetta ended up getting trashed against some armco as Alain scared some villain into dropping his gun with his wild driving - all very plausible. Later Delon films featured Lancias.
