Driving along the Stubbington to Lee-on-the-Solent road to a mates house in Alverstoke this morning at about 07.15, a guy in a green 156 in opposite direction gives me a big wave.......now i'm thinking this guy could have been Green Cloverleaf as he lives round that way, am i right GC?

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
The Alfa wave.......is that still alive?
With the large number of modern Alfas on the road I was thinking people might have stopped doing that - I'm glad that enthusiasts still do it

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I still wave, more or less given up on 147s but 156s occassionally return the gesture.
Got a wave from a Land Rover yesterday

Sure, but its probably only worth it on something older than a 156.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I normally wave to other Alfas, although most of the time I feel like a plonker and the missus think I'm sad or insane .
Just once in a while they will wave back (which is nice) and just once in a blue moon, it will be someone on this forum (which is so cool ).

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Is it a *special* wave or just an ordinary ould "how ya" wave?
I do the ordinary ould wave to most 156/147s i meet in my locallity. My wife thinks i'm sad too & my kids find it amusing that daddy waves at any stranger that sits in AR's

More like a semaphore signal, with the upper part of my body hanging out of the window
(nah, just a good old-fashioned friendly raising of the hand or even just a nod )

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
It's still alive and well. We got a wave from someone in a 147 that I can only assume is pretty keen on Alfas from his plate on Friday night. A** ROC.
Nice one. He even managed to get a wave out of my wife! Unheard of.......
Do they know each other???!!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I always wave - but it seems most post-fiat alfa drivers have no idea what a real alfa should look like, and dont get the connection.
Got an unprompted thumbs up from a red sud (or was it alfetta? was on fone ....) in Chesterfield a fortnight ago. Was that anyone here?

Sud? Alfetta? 146? Brera? These modern fiats all look the same to me :-)
*ducks*
Anyways - there's a white duetto in the carpark of the new red office block in Dunston Road right now ....

Come on guys stop being down on owners of modern alfa's, a lot of enthusiasts do own them, me included as it is a logical progression as the previous alfa ages!! I cant buy a new 155, 164, 33, sud etc!!!
The key to the wave is if the other driver is looking at your alfa he/she is an enthusiast!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I got a return wave from a 156 on saturday, I was in Bertie though. I usually just raise the palm of my had from the steering wheel, which is big a visable through the window. I get lots of waves from other old cars too.

The problem is that we are out-numbered by the 156/147-owning plebs who wouldn't know another Alfa if it knocked them over.
Personally, I think they should all have their cars confiscated and re-distributed to Alfisti

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
This is good to know as I am sometimes around the Lee-On-Solent kind of area. I allways try to wave at other Alfas but I don't usually get much response! I saw a 'classic' one a few weeks ago with the steering wheel on the otherside, waved and i got no reply.
I also saw a late red 146 at the side of the road with his hazzards on would have stopped but I wasn't in my car somebody was giving me a lift.
