Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Just got back from a little run around with a nice red GT between Sandhurst and Bracknell. I gave him the thumbs up in my rear view mirror then let him pass and followed him around a bit. Anyone on here? Nice car and pretty peppy performance too.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

I've been driving alfas for about 4 years now and had mixed results with the wave, most 147s dont even register that its another alfa driver waving at them. Best response has been from GTVs, and they always get a wave back and a big cheesy grin. Even got a wave from a Lotus elise the other day i must say i was quite bemused. Look foward to more alfa waves in the future (lets not let it die out).

Hey Mark,

where abouts in Kent are you? I travel between Tenterden and Tonbridge every day, try to wave at every Alfa I see and hardly ever get a response. I drive a red 156 and my wife has a 147, so keep an eye out for us!

Could have been the guy who returned my wave this morning in town. Didn't manage to get a close look at the car as (as usual) it all happened too quick to take in too much detail.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Waved at two silver 156's within a couple of hundred yards of each other on millers road in brighton last night on the way home from work and I got a wave from one and a lifted finger as an acknowledgement from the other! Whats going on? Two waves in two hundred yards? Is all our time and effort in waving fruitlessly for so long starting to pay off? Let's hope so... Anyone on the forum by any chance?

Lovely car! Could it also have been you that we followed through the centre of town on the day of the Bristol Italian car day a few weeks back? We were following a lovely looking black 164 which pulled into the closed-off road but I didn't see the car on display at all. Also, I don't know if you ever see him on the Gloucester Rd (I usually do in the rush hour) but there is a guy with a bright red 166 with full bodykit etc. I've flashed him a few times but never seem to get an acknowledgement...

Probably not - I was parked up in the Rupert St NCP. I was a bit disappointed there weren't any 164s on show there - might have to spruce the old girl up & enter it next year.

I don't often go down Gloucester Rd during rush hour - think I've seen the 166 you mean though, only parked up tho'
The bodykit does look good on the 166.

You wouldn't happen to be based near the big Somerfield opp. Ash Rd?

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

I am starting to look a bit deranged. I wave at almost every Alfa I see and not a sausage.

Maybe the shop should stock some stickers saying something along the lines of "Give me the Alfa Wave you miserable git"...... On second thoughts I am not sure what wave I would get from the hoards of BMW drivers

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

i wave occasionally, but noone really seems to bother over here in ireland. As far as i can tell the people over here seem to think a car is just another car.

but they're wrong!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Been driving in and out of London during rush hour for the past few days......yeah yeah, never thought I'd do it either but needs must when it's work........seen some lovely Alfas and not one miserable so-and-so has waved.

By the way, is it an offence to put a 'Magic Tree' in a 166? I think perhaps it is.

Followed a nice black GT into Bracknell this morning... managed to make it out 30 minutes later with all four wheels too, a good day all round so far!
