I saw your thread yesterday about your tough decision and the sacrifice you've had to make (between a suzuki swift or some nissan wasn't it? ) I too have a Mrs who will moan and groan about the Alfa and how it is always costing us money. This is up to the point when until she gets in it and then she doesn't mind it so much... funny that, eh?

Anyway, i'm sorry to see you are leaving the family... for now me thinks! You'll be back i'm sure! I'll keep 'em peeled for you but don't be surprised if I miss you in an anonomous car, sorry mate couldn't resist a little pop

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Like many here, I'd (with much sadness) given up the Alfa Wave due to everyone looking back at me like id just mooned the queen. BUT today im back in the game after getting my first AW!
Nottingham, 7.30am ish near Hyson Green a "Gun Metal" grey (never just grey) 147 gave a wave and i think i managed the start of a big grin before we passed each other. Cheers mate for restoring my faith, im back waving now! Hope to see you tomorrow!

Out and about today - did about 300 miles and saw a few Alfa's....not one wave . Yesterday a GT exactly the same colour and age came towards me and I gave a big wave.....and the woman blanked me.! What do I have to do to get noticed?

It's a sign of the times macg29.

Its all about courtesy and respect.

i am old enough to recall the times when AA and RAC members had car badges on their radiator grills and the patrolman would salute the member as they drove past.

Nowadays their are too many members and the practice paled to insignificance.

I used to flash headlights in my Triumph Stag to acknowledge fellow stag users.Ford escort users never really did it so many.

I do it to other Alfa users as a friendly guesture to acknowledge their good taste.

However some people are so busy rushing about and are so selfish they have no thoughts or respect for otheres other than themselves.

My familt cringe and hide like your son and they consider me a dafty too.

Perhaps in time they will ackowledge others and realise what nice people their parents were and the good manners they passed on to them.

Felt sorry for alfa169 with his run in with brera man. Nomad says similar thing too. Maybe he was just back from the alfa dealer, then the dentist or maybe a personality transplant.

As Nomad says maybe he is just a miserable old person.(Had too sign up to new rules on return from holiday).

A sign of the times that people do not talk to each other any more .They just rush about in cars.

Keep the wave alive and a flash of the headlamps works wonders to an apprecative alfa owner.(Normal exclusions apply ..ie breraman)
Hope there is not a member called breraman. If so sorry.

Stick your guitar on the roof like the hard rock cafe and you'll certainlyget noticed martin.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

I'm surprised how many people here have family members that cringe when we wave at other Alfas. Is it really THAT embarrassing waving at another car, the driver of which you'll probably never meet or even see again?

Thanks for the tip Pomeo, trouble is it would play havoc with the wind resistance, and EVERYONE would start waving at me.

Good post Pomeo, and your right about people just having cars to get around in it, its not good when your in a car of passion (Alfa Rom's) becuase your taking away the soul of the thing!.

Hehe -> breraman!! (and as Pomeo said - not anyone here if they called breraman!)
To be more precise: "RedBrera%#&$Man"

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Guy in a red Brera returned my wave just outside Marlow yesterday, but to be honest I think he thought I was thanking him for something!

Lovely car, though

Jonwood, are you in the Marlow/Maidenhead/A404 area? If so I will look out for you.

Been waving at all Alfa drivers since reading this thread. Get more responses from people in 156's than anything else.....odd?

Indeed I am. Since I wave at all Alfas anyway when some prat in a red GT or a silver 156 waves at you, it'll probably be me!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Jonwood, lookout for a Grey/Blue 166, mainly on the A4 and A404 in and out of Maidenhead.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Leaving Maidenhead on the A4 at 3:30 this afternoon, I passed another 166, silver, couldn't see whether he waved, but he did slow down, I suppose the shock of seeing another 166! Ten seconds later I got a couple of hoots and a massive wave from a very elegant black 156, which was well reciprocated.
