Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I had a "wave moment" with a 75 last week here in Poole. Older chap, silver/green metallic 75.
Never had one from a 147, had one from a 156 and several from 145/6s, 155s and earlier.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
one mutual 'knowing' nod from a chap in a silver 156 (Selespeed alloys), over in Perivale, Middlesex.
Usually other Alfa (156) owners I come across might as well be driving Vectras - no hint of acknowledgement. This guy, on the other hand, oozed a real Alfisti quality.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
In days of yore when I drove Sprints, you always exchanged a nod or wave with the other mad folk you'd see once a month if you were lucky.....Suds,Sprints,old 33's and 75's..even the odd loon in a Giulietta or Arna
Back in those days we thought 164 owners were snobs as they frequently ignored you!
Times have changed though and Alfas seem to have lost a certain amount of their unique charm.

Bear in mind that if a Vectra driver waves at you it may well be me in my plain clothes car - I normally flash and/or wave at other Alfas, sometimes when I'm not even driving one!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I did that on Tuesday.... waved and flashed a 155, then realised I was driving my wife's Mitsubishi L200 pickup.
So if you were on the A350 and a silver doublecab pickup flashed you, it was me.

I often wave & be nice to Scoobie drivers when in the AR & visa versa..... its always nice to be nice...... its rare for me to be nice to BMW drivers

I have almost given up!
Very rarely got a wave back.
Seems that most alfa owners in kent are a bit miserable.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I was forever getting waves when I had the 145QV but I never get them in the 147SS.
I'm going to start waving exclusively at modern Alfas now to try and redress the balance

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I waved at a 164 yesterday with no success and then at a white 146 and got the wave back I deserved. Well done that man.
Around my area all modern Alfa drivers don't seem to know what an old one is. I always look, but wait for them to make the first move. Generally, they are not even looking my way.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
There are a couple of 145's that I pass each morning on the A259 - one is red and the other is bright yellow. I used to wave every time I passed them, but I gave up after about a month of not getting one solitary response

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I've waved at all types classic and modern and have only ever had a couple of reactions. A few months ago waved at a old spider on the A20 got a blank look next day the same thing.
We have a Suzuki SJ which often gets waves from other owner or 4x4's and my 76 Capri often gets a nod or wave from both capris and classics as a whole.

Lol, not me - I always wave at any alfa before 156/147, 166s get a wave because they are rare - and the fact that it might be my mum!
Biggest waving effort goes to 155s obviously but then 164s are always worthwhile!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Yep I'm afraid the old alfa wave was phased out on the arrival of the 156. I very rarely wave at 156/147 drivers, I think they are the type that probably use the car as a means to an end, if you know what I mean. Obviously present company excluded

if i drive past any alfas, if i dont flash, i will give a wave......hand right off the steering wheel, hand stretched out style ...i sometimes get a wave or a nod back but more often then enough......peeps just look at me like i am some sort of crazee fool
i have found that 146/147 drivers are the worst for giving me a strange look

Are you suggesting that the poor fellows cannot wave because they are "knocking one out" whilst driving?

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Hi everybody. I'm new on this forum. I'm French, so, if I make some mistakes, excuse me. I'm trying to do my best to write in english without mistakes. I would like to know if there are some french members on this site because I would like to know if some French Alfa drivers gives Alfa waves on France's roads. I didn't know that it was a tradition between Alfa's owner. The next time I see an Alfa on the road, I'll give to the alfa driver a wave and I will see if it works.
Bye
