I got the Alfa wave!!

I still haven't got the Alfa wave

However, I did get the MG wave off a young lady in a green MGB as I drove my Midget into work this morning

Waved at a guy in a silver spider in Hereford on Saturday - and got a slightly surprised wave back. His name was Stu judging by his plate - are you on here Stu?!

No reflection to anyone on here but is there an assumption that 147 / 156 drivers are not necessairly Alfa enthusiasts, they've just bought a practical, well priced second hand car?! Whereas someone has gone out of there way to choose, say a GTV, is more a lover of the marque and thus more likely to wave back?!

I know that is not the case with you guys on here but more the 'general' public?! My mate bought his 156 not because he loved Alfa's but cos it represented best value for money, turns out he does love them now!!

I always try and wave and if anyone is in Northampton area give me the nod!!

maybe its because I drive like a loon

Maybe someone should start a new thread with 'I'm in the Alfa wave club'!! Stick down home town, what you drive & last 3 digits of reg or something

Or maybe I'll just continue waving at everyone and getting snubbed at every turn!

well I haven't had it for ages

Pulled up alongside a gleaming black 156 Gta yesterday after getting the car cleaned. I looked over and gave it my best alfa smile (a bit like this ) ready for at least a nod. He didn't even twitch in the Alfas direction.

People should be told that you don't have to drive a car thats so special that enthusiasts want to acknowledge each others beautiful machines.

I wasn't an Alfisti before I bought my 147. Now I love Alfas. A modern convert, admittedly, but if you're not moved into loving alfas by owning one, then you're probably dead. Or else an estate agent. Much the same thing IMO.......

No recent waves. Did park next to a nice 166 in the carpark yesterday and hoped the owner would show up so I could pass the time of day, but alas not.

Blanked twice today.

Last one was a 156 in Sainsbury's retail park - perhaps his mirror shades obscured his vision of me. Perhaps he was just too cool, unlike me.

I'm getting increasingly concerned about this wave business. I am spending more time looking out for cars with Shield shaped grilles and less time looking where I am going!

As a relative newcomer to this (i have to say) fantastic site, i have to add my take on this whole alfa wave thing.

Firstly can i add that the alfa wave, particularly on the side of us GTV enthusiasts out there is alive and kicking in Plymouth, Devon (5 or 6 of us i think). A small sense of euphoria is present when you pass one on the way to work or at asda supermarket (silver spider up at estover)

There dont seem to be many of us about in plymouth but the first wave i got i assumed the guy new me, but ever since ive carried on the tradition.

id like to leave you with two thoughts

1. only have i ever seen national express drivers do the whole wave thing

2. If you think about it, how many times do you actually see yourself driving in your italian mean machine (apart from the windows of coffee shops) it brings a smile to my face when i look at another GTV and think - nice car pal - and then remember im driving one myself!

Have you been through kettering recently?

I haven't sampled the delights of Kettering for a few months

I often wave at fellow alfa drivers ONLY to feel a prat when they dont recipricate. My wife just laughs at me.

Me and Ode only just found out we work in the same buliding.
I say the Alfa wave doesn't count if it's someone you know / work with. He says it does but I've had more waves than him.

Who's right

Don't think it counts. If you know the person, you're really waving at them, even though they're in an Alfa. If they were in a VW, Renault, or whatever, you'd still wave, so for me I agree with you - don't count.

So, if you see a strange bloke in a Ford Fiesta waving at you, that would be me (force of habit, dontchaknow?)

I would look out for you but I'll probably be in the wife's Land Rover as the GTV is being a pain in the ar5e at the moment!

Off the subject a bit but where do you take your car to be serviced etc..

i've waved to the same lady in a 156 on my way home from work for three weeks before I got a wave back, now wave everyday and better still - she's a honey!
