On the theme of the thread I was at Dutton Forshaw in Cardiff today, think I got a wave off anyone else in Alfa on my drive!? What wrong with these people!?

Should be a section in the hand book about this...

Don't worry folks you're not mental! I always have waved at people driving the same car as me as I've almost always had less common ones, which I would count as cars you might only see 2-3 of in one day. Whenever I drove the old Merc I sold a couple of weeks ago I got about a 20% response to waves/flashes from people driving the same model. I don't bother when driving my newer Merc as there so many of them around.

So my theory is true marque/car lovers will always wave back (if they see you that is) because they understand why we are waving, whereas people who just happen to have the car probably think we are nutters. (I also will wave/flash or give the thumbs up to any other nice classic car and they usually will wave back - which I reckon helps to prove my theory)

We also have a 1975 VW Camper and 99.99% of VW campers always wave/flash to each other - plus loads of other random people.

So back to the Alfa Wave - my score since picking up my 159 last saturday..............a big fat zero from all Alfas so far. I drive past about 5 or 6 (mostly 156s or 147s) each way going to and from work. I see some of them every day, so my cunning plan is to wave/flash every time until they get the idea. I'll let you know how I get on.

Got an enthusiastic return wave from a black 159 in Sheffield today. Put my casual raised index finger to shame!

Was driving into Lancaster today, and as it is TT week there are loads of bikes riding through to get to the Heysham ferry. Had seen some coming so moved over to let them filter through. When we stopped at the lights 2 guys on Ducatis and one on a Moto Guzzi opened their helmets and shouted 'Nice motor' at me.
I was admiring their bikes, especially the 1098 Ducati.
Much more friendly than the Silver V6 156 driver who, with his hat on backwards, never waves once. Maybe its because his seat is that far back he cant see out of the window. Some people dont deserve cars like that.

Black 156 coming out of Brunel Uni this afternoon returned my thumbs up First one for a while!

Just had my first alfa flash and wave from a fellow GT driver in Weymouth, nice one mate.I flashed and waved back. COOL.

I now own a 147 and never get waved at, had a 146 before and always got a wave, perhaps its living in the south west.

had my car 3 days and have been flahed/waved at by 4 alfas 3 old shape spiders and a brera

I quickly glanced at another alfa driver today and semi raised my eyebrow, does that count ?

i think ive had an alfa wave before - ive always tried to acknowledge fellow alfas usually a nod but soemtimes a raised hand. I will make more of an effort to wave in the future.

Got my first full on wave today I've had smiles and nods before but never the full on wave Guy in a black 55 plate Brera on the Pershore Road Birmingham

I feel a bit sad, yesterday I saw no less than 3(!) other 166's and each time I saw them i was driving something other than mine, otherwise my wave count for the year could have doubled!

I saw a sprint on the M1 but the driver didn't seem as enthusiastic as me with the whole waving policy.

Acid green/yellow Kamm-tail Spider Southbound on the M1. Must have seen Green Machine in the 'Sud lineup at Stanford Hall and twigged. Nice to feel part of the fraternity!

I also got a wave from a V8 T-bucket coming back from some event at the 'Pod or Billing (lots of hopped-up Fords around for some reason too), but credit for the most outrageous stupidity goes to the chav in the Civic CRX (with the blacked-out bonnet and graphics by "chavperformance.com") who first cut me up and then proceeded to try and take pictures of the Green Machine through his rear window while swerving around in front of me!

I also got a flash (not that kind, silly) from an F430 heading to Goodwood for Supercar Sunday, but I think he thought I was driving a Lamborghini (in the wrong direction), which probably doesn't count as an aknowledgement

Hi- I have been doing well - got a salute from a red GTV in Bracknell, then the same from a 147 in Canterbury, plus a 156 sportwagen in nine mile ride (wokingham) and a wave from a rather startled looking women from a red 147 in Crowthorne!!

Surprisingly ignored by a old 'graduae' style spider coming into Woking though!!

I got the "cricket umpire" raised index finger from a Silver 147 on the A515 going from the Lichfield/Rugeley Round-a-about towards Yoxall last night around 8pm.
Guessing its someone on here? I did put my hand up but not sure if I was spotted!
My first received wave! I had a nice warm glow after that!

Make sure you wave at me then - I live on Nine Mile Ride near the California Crossroads. I've givien up waving cos there are so few returns but I always watch ay Alfa to see if the driver is waving and acknowledge in return. Orangey-red 156 GTA, often seen haring round the outskirts of Bracknell and Crowthorne.
