I got the Alfa wave!!

Saw a red 156 driving enthusiastically down the M1 last night from J24 onwards. Same direction so waving not so viable. Decided not to try and keep up in the interests of saving fuel *dull*

Having sworn I'd never get a 156, I'm afraid I have succumbed.

I managed to get a wave back from a Black GTV/Spider on the way towards Hartney Wintney, made my day! (and distracted me so much i didn't see the back hence not knowing exactly what it was!)

i got one from a light blue GT on the way to work but dont get it from any other alfa models!! only the gt so far ...

Well I'm doing my best around South Cheshire and the Stoke area.

If you see a black 159Ti Sportwagon coming at you with a wave or a quick flash of the lights then at least say HI back.....After all we all need personal contact to balance the hours we spend on computer forums.

.....oh by way, if you get one from a black 147 then that will be the wife!

I will be undertaking my first decent length journey this weekend:

Bournemouth to Preston on Sat and back on Sun. Usual A34/M40/M42/M6 route so if you see a Black GT flashing waiving merrily, it'll me enjoying myself.

I tried waving but got back stange looks,but I've discovered the ALFA NOD,it works for me with all alfa's where I roam.

Exchanged breif waves on the M25 anti J28, driver and passenger of a silver 156 sportwagon.

Saw a Black GT in Palmers Green today as well, but was behind so couldn't really flash or wave.

I didn't know there was an Alfa Wave, but then, I've not had my GT two weeks yet. Got a nod from a black GT on the M40 n'bound last Thusday evening. Does that count?
I've got a kit car as well, and wave at them all the time, so reckon I'll get the hang of it!

When ever I do it, I get someone looking at me like im crazy or the "do I know you" look.

Blanked soooo many times over the weekend it was unreal

Even got blanked by a guy in a 156 (number plate was OIL ****) last night after 'convoying' - at the legal maximum officer - down the A11 last night and as I went up the slip road to the A505 he pulled alongside but kept his gaze straight ahead... miserable get !!

haha, you are weak but I totally don't blame you. Not only have you succumbed to getting a 156, you're posting on the 'Alfa wave' thread as well... brilliant.

got a wave from a guy in a 156 or might have been a 159 in hove yesterday (i think it was yesterday anyhow??? One day just seems to blend into the next these days!) I can't remember where exactly either it might have been on the old shoreham road? Anyway, the wife was in the car with me and normally when I wave with her in the car, i get zero waves back and she says I'm a mug for waving at likeminded strangers but this time she had to concede that the alfa wave was alive and well! Got another wave from a brera this morning on the way in to work on the droveway in brighton. Happy days.

Ok, I am new in the Alfa family, can someone explain to me what is "the wave"?

On viewing another Alfa Romeo the trick is to raise a hand from the steering wheel and wag it from side to side in the direction of the aforementioned Alfa, hoping that they in return will do likewise

Seriously, there's no special wave, just a nod or another form of acknowledgement is considered to be ok.

Evidently quite a lot of other Alfa drivers think it's more strange than ok, though

i usually wave fellow GTVs and now GTs and breras...!
