Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

It has taken just under a month to finally get an Alfa wave. From a guy with a newish Black GT think it was a Blackline. I was going away from Braintree town centre and he was going towards it. My misses couldn't believe it when he waved. Thought it was cool but sad at the same time LOL!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Waved at like 6 Alfas today, including one Black 156 that any idiot could see looked just like mine, and not one of them returned my wave They were mostly driven by women too, so I guess that explains it

we generally are barely a return wave in colchester area these days, so dont usually bother. you get the feeling if your going to get a wave back.

Got my first Alfa wave today. Guy in a silver 156 coming through Elvington on the B1228 heading towards York at about 9.15am this morning. I did wave back - honest!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

waved at a chap in a blue (or was it green, my memory!) 156 on the preston road on monday night at approx 6pm. Got a rather bemused half hearted wave back (you know the wave i mean... it's the one that implies "who the hell ar you?") but thats all I have to report since changing from the gtv; the 156 is nice but the gtv was something a bit special

That was me. It was the "one-finger-in-case-they-don't-wave-back-and-I-look-stupid" wave. I go that way to work in York every day from Barmby Moor to avoid the A1079, so if it's your regular route, you'll see me again.

Nice 166. I had one in Proteo red a few years ago, but my ex-wife took it with her when we split

It's dead now though - the dreaded crankshaft shells problem (it was a 2.0 TS).

Still the best car I ever had though. I love my 156, but just not quite as much. If I wasn't going to be murdered for road tax, I'd get another like a shot.

Cheers for waving back,
Ian

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

I finally tried the ALFA WAVE on my way home from work today as I've noticed a few on the road to and from work........ The result ????

Absolutely ZILCH.......

From work to home I pretty much stay on the A325 between Bordon and Aldershot, approximately 15 mile journey..........

I saw ..............

A black 147 ( facelift)
A silver GTV cabriolet..... driven by a tidy blonde
A red GTV coupe
A silver 156

gave all of 'em a wave........and nothing...............

I quite often see a red convertible.......a Spider or something (I'm not too familiar with all the models) .......when the suns out he drives it with the lid down........ Beautiful car ......... I'll try him when I next see him...............

........and the rest ??? ........I'll keep trying.

Cheers to all
Peter

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Grey 147 heading out of Southampton on A33 Bassett Avenue this afternoon Wed 23/4/08. Wave of hand from wheel but I noticed the car and managed to acknowledge it in the nick of time so may not have seen me. Still, makes a change to get a wave.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Nobody waves to a 159 ti though - Peterborough area.

Got fed up being ignored - full on headlight flash now. No response.

And - as with everyone else - wife and kids think I'm mad.

Is your 147 silver, and do you work on the southern industrial estate at Bracknell? , If it was that was me I work at Siemens, I returned the wave as you went past! I'll keep an eye out for you

There's a couple of members on the estate. Had a nice run down with a blue GTV 3.0 down the A322 who turned off and then turned up behind me as I came in to the estate and gave me a nod as he went past. Also there's a guy who drives a silver spider (login name escapes me) who works at Waitrose who's on here as well.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Really positive wave (no hesitation here) from the driver of a stunning Sportwagon, just going out of Churchfields.

And then missed the 146 under the railway bridge, sorry, my bad.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

I see at least three Alfas on my journey to work (South Oxon to Theale) and they never wave, so at least I know to avoid waving at these.

Saw an unfamiliar one today though and waved - forgot I was in the Volvo....Ahhhhh..... No wonder they looked at me as if I had two heads...

Come on all you Alfa drivers! I may be a woman and drive a 147 at that - but I do wave!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

JonSpiderMan: yeah that was me! I actually work in Reading, but go through the Bracknell industrial estate on my way home.

And yesterday another one! A red 147 JTD Multijet that I followed up to Sandhurst traffic lights and then pulled up next to! Whoever you were, I think we have the same driving stile. I could tell you enjoy your car .

That's 7 months with nothing, then 3 in a week!
