Big thumbs up to the nice red W reg 166 who tried to keep up with me up the A217 from J8 to Banstead tonight - sure there would have been a wave but it was dark

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Alfa-heavy day for me today! Red 166 of some sort went across the mini roundabout between west drayton station approach and yiewsley high street, barely had a chance to register though as I'd just left home. Another grey 156 Lusso pulling out on the twisty residential roads on the way to uni, slowed right down and gave him a big thumbs up but just got a funny look Then a red 159 going at some speed down Kingston Lane towards Hillingdon Hospital - it was just the two of us and he got a couple of big flashes, no response though.
London sucks!

Hey Fraser, that might have been me!!
I was through in Edinburgh last week. I'm not sure where Lothian Road is exactly, but I do remember someone in an Alfa waving. I used to wave to all other Alfa's (when we were a rare breed), but a few years ago I noticed that no one was waving back, so I gave up!
Must start again.
Sorry if I gave you a funny look, I was just a bit taken aback, as I thought the good old days of waving were gone!!
Iain.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Was just on the phone to my better half whilst she was having her fag break, when suddenly she said "Oooh a Cup has just pulled out of one of the sideroads" Impressed but unsure she knew what she was talking about I checked if it had vents behind the front wheels. "No, but it's red with a spoiler and looks like yours".
I told her to wave, but she refused. On second thoughts, probably best she didn't.
So, if you were driving a red Aeropack GTV around London Bridge this afternoon at 15:30 have a virtual wave

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Having just owned mine for 2 weeks now, i have only received one nod from a fellow alfa owner in a silver GT. But i tend to get to get nods and thumbs up from people who own all different make of car. Last night i had someone give me a thumbs up in an Old Mazda RX2 (pretty sure that what it was, lol) But then again i haven't seen that many alfa owners here.

Hello Neil. That would be me then! Mine is also a 20 valve JTD. Haven't noticed you so much recently, but thats probably because it's so bloody dark in the mornings!
An older silver 156 saloon (Yreg I think) also travels along the same bit of road in the mornings. He never waves.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Was driving down M4 yesterday afternoon past Bridgend at a speed slightly(!) above speed limit. Saw a lovely black GT; gave it a toot, only to have an unmarked black Police Saab on the inside lane give me a flash back with its blue lights!
He didn't pull me over so I'd like to think it was South Wales Police version of the Alfa wave!

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
It's all good fun !!
I live only just one hour from the Italian border - so you would "think this gesture thing" with the Italians - ALFA's (watch it, my wife is 100% Italian) would not exist
Well, I tell you, it does but only with the older ones
The younger "Ital Stallions" (sorry ladies) look quite confused - they dont know the 'old Alfa way' - however, not one to normally raise a hand to the emotion of Alfa this close to Milano however an old guy the other week stopped at the side of the road ("after my gesture" - Alfa gesture I may add) and asked in primo Milanese > know a good Alfa garage here I've just started smoking >>> he's driving 1980 Sud. It was his fathers car, today still green - minimal rust *** and still running, bjut developed the "smokers cough !" (the car that is)
My wife cannot understand these things, but as a Brit, you have to appreciate the image....... Alfa's, they are really worth it

Well as you ask I used to have a Mk1 Ford Consul, you know bench seats column change valve radio and vacuum washers, it cost me £400 and it became a pain filling up as everyone over about 40 seemed to remember them and come over for a chat!
