Waved at a guy in a black brera on Lothian Rd in Edinburgh today - he looked at me as if I had two heads.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
No fraser. On my way to the Western day out yesterday I reminised as I took the old A71 to Edinburgh.Recalled being cought in the blizzard at the headless cross near shotts in 1977.
As I drove thro Briech Yes Breich I saw a red 156 coming towards me.No other cars so I thought I give him the "alfa wave".
Si I fkashed the headlights and got a look and stare bach as if to say " Are you a complete FUD".
No mate you are just a wee courteous guesture ya philistine.
Seem to happenning a lot more now.

Hey I was out that way yesterday and only saw one alfa (black jtd). Wasn't in my car though so didn't wave...
It was very probably JSAlfa you saw in his very tidy 166. He's along at the Northern Italian Car meet every month too.

I normally attend the Brighouse meet, but I've missed the last few due to work commitments.
I felt a bit guilty, as the 166 was mint and mine was (is) filthy

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Snapper Five suggested that I re-post this here!
Saw a 57 Plate Blackline at Sompting lights on the A27 couple of days ago.
Just wondered if you were on this forum?
Your car looked really great (as I hope my Blackline did) as you went past me at Shoreham Airport. Thanks for the "Thumbs Up"!
I was taking things easy as I only collected mine the day before and it's only got 40 miles on the clock.
May be see you again if the A27 is a regular road for you.
On the same note TT (my previous car) owners were pretty good wavers and flashers. What's the general rule of thumb with alfas? Does everyone recognise everybody or..... do 147 owners only flash 147's and GTV's only wave to GTV's? Would be good to know
Regards,
Dumb Tony

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
Acknowledged by black GT heading east on M4 just past Chippenham about 10.30 am. Amazing. If I change to the Fiat Croma then I'll never see another.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I wave at every Alfa I see and I get a "what's up with that ****" look most of the time!? Couldn't we get the factory to put it in the manual? When I was a biker, not only do people wave, nod and flash, and if you break down you will never be left at the roadside.

Personally, after a few failed attempts of waving at all Alfas, I only wave at other GTVs (although my success ratio is sadly low). You know you're more likely to meet another enthusiast in a GTV than a 147 or whatever. I'm just fed up with the blank looks, or blatant ignores.
You probably didn't wave at every Audi driver, just TTs.
Most people I think wave at everybody though.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
I hope everyone waves at us when we've collected our 156 TS at the weekend. I didn't realise Alfa owners did this, I've always had Landies ( still have ) and most of them wave, though not so much the modern or posh ones. Our new baby is maroony red and will be living in the York area. We'll always wave back. Dave.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!
How about this - I got the Alfa wave while out walking ON FOOT! I saw a nice silver GT coming towards me while I was walking back from the local shops, peered at it when the driver waved. Of course I waved back as I realized it was TallPaul, with whom I'd shared a few beers a couple of weeks back. But I like to think I exude "Alfisti-ness" as I walk down the street......
Cheers,
Nigel

LOL! It was indeed me, perhaps I should've kept quiet and both you and your wife would now be slightly worried that you have a new special friend.....
Of course Alfa waves count on foot. I was glad I wasn't in the GTA as it's actually a bit dirty at present, well below my usual standards.
Cheers,
Nigel
