Spot on!

My wife drives the car more than me (stuck on the train ) and she's always getting flashed. Odd, but for some reason she seems to like it...

Yep, that was me - Saturday afternoon near the level crossing. Sorry to startle you, but my instinctive reaction on seeing another Alfa is to wave, on seeing another 147 it's to flash the lights. I'm going to get into trouble one of these days......

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Hehe, I was worried it was just me doing the wave. My mate drives a Nissan 350 Z and think's I'm mad but I suspect that he's just jealous as he knows with a Nissan he would spend all his time waving at taxis drivers.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

I got flashed (in Southampton) by what I think was a 159 although could have been a new revision 156. Unfortunatly I didn't have time to flash back. It took me too much by suprise that a 159/156 flashed

Crazed Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

My first Alfa's 10 days old and since reading this thread I've attempted to coax a wave out of three 156 drivers, all of whom pretended not to notice me.

Cheeky beggars.

Has to be said 156 and 147 drivers don't tend to acknowledge other Alfas very often. You'll get more joy from GTVs, 145/146s and 155s probably.

I only usually bother if I see another 166 these days, as its a bit of an event.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

On the drive home from work I saw five 156s today, and not one grumpy bugger returned my wave. Very disappointing

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

In recent memory I've only had the wave returned or acknowledged last Sunday (with greater frequency the closer to NAD I was!). The Alfa drivers around the Tamworth / Sutton Coldfield area look at me as if I've sprouted a second head when giving the wave.

Foxie - that was me! Just a few minutes from home, on the way to Le Mans. Bizarrely, after picking up a friend in Sevenoaks 90 mins later, a bright blue 156GTA SW went past - spotted too late for a wave. That's more GTA's than I see in a 6-month period normally!

Personally I try and eye up Alfa drivers and if they seem to be looking at my car, wave, if not, I don't usually bother, though I'll always wave/flash lights at a GTA. You're the first person to wave back

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

I find recently that more and more drivers are returning the Alfa wave / flash of lights.

However, lady drivers tend not to. It seems to be a male preserve. But every rule has an exception and there is a lady driving north towards Towcester in the evenings in a GT who enthusiastically flashes me.

Also, 147 owners very very rarely acknowledge the greeting.

Re: The alfa wave!!

Hi.

Only had my Alfa 147 for about 6 months now. This is the first time a heard of a Alfa wave. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Live in South Africa, so Alfa's are fairly new around.

Re: i got the Alfa wave!!

Red 156 in Freising, Germany waved at us yesterday while we were in the 159. My mate was driving (BMW Owner) and missed it, but I waved back from the passengers seat.

Also saw a red 156 with white Viper stripes just now on the autobahn going to Munich.

Mark

I so miss driving my GTA. :-(
