Great idea.

Here is to hoping they will reintroduce the Busso V6 with a new camless head, individual TBs and same mounting points

From the article
We love Ferraris, but they aren’t known for reliability
The journalist obviously never watched Formula 1 during the Schumacher years.

Can you imagine a Ferrari-sourced 450 bhp twin turbo V6 in the Alfa 4C GTA??

Alfa has to make a car to compete with BMW's M class category cars, Audi's S's and Mercedes' AMG's

Yes but Maseratis are a lot more expensive than BMW M's and Audi S's. Mercedes though ok all of their AMG cars are a lot more expensive. Also Maseratis are bigger cars. Im talking about 3-series, A3's, A4's etc categories.
Though Alfa should have such cars too, not only make small cars (like now). They should have a car in such a category

Wow, a big shift if it happens (Pentastar V6 was all we had). Great news if true. Big "if" though.....

It appears you can buy a Maser GT or QP for £82k and an M5 for £73k, so it's that kind of territory, although I agree to an extent. I think FGA are ready to broaden Maserati further down the price range too, so I think that their presence is part of the reason we're not seeing certain Alfas, e.g. the 166, GTAs etc...

Maybe. Lets just wait a little and see what happens. It might also just be rumors though. Alfa keeps announcing things and then dont do anything. We will only see in some years time i guess

I dont wish to put a dampener on this, but on the investor plan there is no mention of these new engines. Now if Ferrari are developing them for themselves, that would be a different matter....

Would it be there? There's some subtlety as Ferrari aren't part of FGA.

i would love a technical whizz to talk me through the similarities and differences between the Alfa V6, and the Dino V6; their noise, vigour and wail, have often made me wonder if they share any technical or conceptual bloodlines.

The investor plan is about as much use as service schedule for a GTA - you can't believe anything on it and it is subject to huge change! For example, there has been no mention of the 4C on any investor plan prior to its announcement but it seems to be going ahead. And stuff that is announced gets deferred/dropped. They pretty much make things up as they go.

Cheers,

Nigel
