Cry Like A Baby My bella written off... GTA or Ducati Corse

Today is a sad day, my 156 which was in A1 condition was written off after being slammed in the rear driver side wing/boot area which has twisted the rear of the car im still wiping the tears as she was a 2001, 1 previous owner and had only 58k when I got her, and had only still covered 80k. Fortunately no one was hurt so after the claim is settled I'll be after a 147

The car will be a daily driver doing about 10-12k a year, so even though I crave a GTA, I think a Ducati Corse should also be considered? I guess I should test drive both, and no doubt the GTA will blow my mind but the benefit of the Ducati's MPG and lower tax / insurance is tempting.

Does anyone have any advice?

Even though my Dad harps on about RWD having an Etype etc I just cant face not having an Alfa

Leigh

Alfa 159 + 147 Ducati

Sad news Leigh! But at least you get to have a GTA or Ducati

I would test drive both and get a feel for them. Personally i prefer the facelifted 147 but the GTA sounds beautiful! If you elect to go for the Ducati i have a very nice example for sale

It's down to your financial choice. A GTA beats Ducati hands down in all other aspects.

147 GTA & 1.6

Was just about to say GTA till i read your post.. I personally would opt for the ducati if I was doing work mileage like yours. Need to factor the maintenance also, GTA's arent cheap.
Good luck

I have a GTA daily driver!

My office IS only 1.4 miles away though!

The DC is the sensible choice.

I do 6k at present and wouldn't really go for a 3.2 if doing much more

the Ducati Corse is an amazing looking 147, the alloys are superb!!! With a remap it is very quick or so I have been told

i've driven a mapped ducati corse, and it was an absolute bloody riot. i loved it.

but for me it would have to be the GTA. there will always be hot hatches, but i doubt we'll ever see the likes of the 147GTA again. for that reason, get one and enjoy one whilst you can

Thanks for the responses! My heart is definitely screaming GTA and my head for a diesel, but I've only got a month on my parent's insurance to find a one, and reading some of the posts about people viewing GTAs it seems like I'm possibly going to struggle. Also, after some extensive searching the Ducati Corse is actually out of my price range I could afford £7k for the right GTA but 9k on a DC just isn't justifiable so it looks like a 150bhp Sport Q2 would be on the cards instead.

Having replaced the entire front suspension on my 156 last year I don't really want to go through that again so soon either, so it seems that a 5 year old Sport Q2 would be a better option than an 8 year old GTA? I do enjoy the way my parents 2.2 diesel 406 Coupe overtakes with no drama... but I suppose it all boils down to how each feels in my hands. I'm more interested in chucking it into a corner than traveling at warp speed everywhere.

Saying that, the GTA does just look so incredible, even compared to a DC, and the bragging rights of the 3.2 and the slower depreciation would be welcome.

Stupid cars

Get a manual gearbox 2.0 TS pre-lift 147 in Rosso Alfa.

Some thing you've had experience with Radosuaf?

I think I'm definitely going down the sport q2 route, there are some low miles, not too old examples about that seem worth looking into. I couldn't rush a Gta purchase so maybe that's one for the future.

Unfortunately, mine was 1.6 TS. Loved the car, but was to weak (105 BHP). But with the 2-litre engine it would be a blast. I'd just stay off Selespeed. If I had a chance to buy a new pre-lift 147 I'd sell the Giulietta right away .

If this helps.
I was looking for Alfa #2 and didn't really want a second 147 or a diesel.

My friend who came looking at cars with me suggested I should test drive the 147 Ducati Corse. Now I own one . Even I didn't see that coming!

Wow those are pretty strong words! Went to Donalds Alfa in Pboro yesterday for a perve and the inside of the Giuliettas are gorgeous

Haha they are beaut. My friend's brother has one from new, and what a car. I just can't stretch to 9k for one I'm hunting for a Sport Q2 now, but with a house restoration on top of a 9-6 job time is pretty tight. Hopefully in a few of weeks I'll find the right one before the insurance on my parent's car is up.

Throwing in a curveball here - how about a GT? Some decent Blacklines/Cloverleafs going for good prices at the moment, and it is a pretty car!!
