Well fellow Alfa owners, the time has come for my 159ti to be traded in for the latest shiny, technically charged and achingly gorgeous model. However, as you all have no doubt noticed, there is no latest model.
The Mito and Giulietta are both too small for my needs, and besides I can't get on with those front ends. It seems the Giulia is still some way off, especially if like me you go for the nearly new market.
And so, it was with a slightly heavy heart that I found myself in the local (whisper it) Audi dealership signing away the ti and a not insignificant chunk of cash on an A5 sportback.
Whilst I anticipate rather fewer visits to the dealer / tyre shop / petrol pumps, I will miss the highs and lows of ownership, and definitely the compliments from strangers etc that driving an Alfa brings.
Most of all though, I think I will miss the warm feeling that there is a community of dedicated owners right here in Internet land who are always on hand with technical tips, easy fixes and advice on dealers etc to keep you going through the darker times. I never thought I would be replacing my own glow plugs!
I have also seen some awesome photos (not necessarily car related), lots of friendly banter and even witnessed the equivalent of talking someone down from the ledge - which was particularly touching.
I haven't always contributed and have often just 'listened in', but I hope I have made a useful contribution to some topics at least.
And so, it may be goodbye for now, but as happened last time I strayed, I have the distinct feeling that I will be back. I just hope that the Giulia meets expectations, and you lot are still about to help me track down that windscreen creak in 4 years time.
So long and good luck all.
Cheers
Jim
