Alfa off road?!? Crosswagon
AMSTERDAM - Alfisti must have rubbed their eyes twice, when seeing the new Crosswagon. It is an old tric: get a stationwagon, in this case a 156 SW, raise it a little, give it 4 wd and you have got a SUV-alternative.
The Alfa Romeo Crosswagon will have a 150 Bhp strong 1.9 MultiJet JTD engine. And perhaps a 2.4 JTD 20V engine with 170 Bhp.

Re: Alfa off road?!? Crosswagon
Looks really stupid but if Audi and Volvo can do it why not Alfa.
Alfa need 4WD so we can get a 4WD 147 GTA

Re: Alfa off road?!? Crosswagon
This whole crossover thing is a marketing led stupidity...
If people need 4wd for off road use then they should buy a proper off roader...
If they "space" then buy a people carrier...
Whatever twonk invented "lifestyle" needs to be shot.. but not before being run over by an example of each horror he/she has unleashed upon us!

I won't disagree on that!
Just in case, I didn't diss the Holden, I just found it quite like the Palio.

Since Sprints,33's,75's & 155's became scarce the magic of Alfa has gone out of the window, people posting on here may be enthusiasts, but 95% of 147/156 etc drivers could be driving a Mundano Ghia 1.6 Laser for all they care about the marque.

Re: Alfa off road?!? Crosswagon
It is certainly not a true alfa - in spirit!
But there are too many dumb-asses out there buying those stupid "cross" vehicles that don't do anything properly - except annoy real drivers!

Luckily I'm one of the other 5% then. Only an enthusiast would buy an Alfa in this country but I think I know what you mean. I've owned a Sud, various Sprints, 155 and now my 156 so I guess you could call me an enthusiast.
Since switching to the new AO I have noticed a distinct lack of posts on the 147/156 section but the 155 section always looks busy - more enthusiasts over there ?
Personally I can't see the point of those cross type vehicles either. I have a 4x4 as well but thats because the roads are really bad here and you need it for the dunes at the week end

Re: Alfa off road?!? Crosswagon
Hmm, maybe a set of GTA 5-hole wheels can improve the look a little.

Re: Alfa off road?!? Crosswagon
Just another 4WD that`ll never go off road and just clog up the roads during the school run
C`mon Alfa stick to what you know best and leave the shopping trolley/school run motors to BMW and the like..................

SHort term this may be OK but I suspect Alfa would be better off getting its "Act together" rather than just pumping out variations on a theme.
1) improve Quality control- have genuine, usable specifications to which component manufacturers are required to conform. would be helpfull.
2) Create a viable second hand market. Alfa have such poor resale value due to used image that only the enthusiast is willing to purchase them.
3) Have an entusiastic dealer/service network
4)Maybe have a marketing concept
Current one seems to be Beauty is not enough.... but current Alfa's cannot really be called Beautiful except maybe the standard 147 .
The 147 GTA does not look beautiful unless you like your Girlfriend
to have the muscles of a male body builder
etc.................................
