Alfa pay for my leaky water pump / cambelt replacement!
Hello folks,
Just thought I'd share some great news about my Alfa. It's a 4 year old GT 2.0 JTS, with 30,000 miles on the clock. It had it's 4 year service and MOT last week, and it passed!
But that's not the good news (although clearly it is good news). The garage (LC Motors in Newport, South Wales), identified that the water pump appeared to have a leak. They said this needed replacing, and consequently the cambelt etc would also need changing (it only had a cambelt change last summer when the car was 3 years old).
They said the water pump is scheduled to be replaced at 6 years, so appears to have developed a fault prematurely. Without me even having to ask, the garage contacted Alfa Romeo and AR have agreed to pay for the entire cost of the work (parts and labour).
My car's in the garage today having the work done, and I'm not paying a penny. They suggested that Alfa have paid this partly because the car has a full AR service history, and because I personally had my previous 156 serviced by AR for over 5 years.
Maybe some of you will say that it is only right that Alfa pay for this, but I really wasn't expecting it. Perhaps I'd expect a contribution towards the cambelt change, but I'm mightily chuffed they're paying the whole lot, especially as the car has been out of warranty for a year.
Anyway, it now means I have some cash in my pocket to spend when I take the GT and the family to France next week! Who says that Alfa service is poor? Not me. LC Motors and AR are pretty damn good in my book at the moment.
