The stuff I've used is certainly not acetone.... it is odourless and comes in in a jelly-like form. I would certainly recommend caution on paintwork
I've just 'googled' this:
"Pour lemon drops on the glue. Wait for some time. Then add common table salt in the same place. This mixture will dissolve the super glue. Then you can peel off the adhesive from the surface."
I've no idea if it works but it's worth a try
