Super Glue On the Paintwork lol

yeah I had an unfortunate experience with a parked car in a tight road and my side mirror came off and was hanging on barely so i superglued it back but that was during night time and i got superglue trails running down the side, any help how to get it off, i was thinking nail polish remover but that would also remove the paint right lol?

I have a horrible feeling super glue contains acetone so it may have melted the paint under the glue

I thought superglue was 'cyanoacrylate'? Mind you, I'm not saying it hasn't necessarily buggered the paintwork .

How well waxed was the car? Maybe it will just 'crack' off?

waxin? oh im not the best at looking after my car even though i love it all the way down to her spark plugs

ive gone down and had it washed several times but its still there

any ideas would be welcomed

oh cool do you no if that just "un bonds" or gets all the residue off too? ill have a search for that in town later maybe

Unfortunately siper glue remover is also - paint remover

Hold a damp songe on it for a while, water softens the glue, then attack it with T cut. Thats what I would do anyway.

I would try the superglue remover.... I've used it on lots of different surfaces (don't ask ) and it hasn't attacked anything but the superglue.

But, just to test it, try a small spot of it on a bit of paintwork under the carpet in the boot.

I am pretty sure superglue remover is acetone, the same as nail varnish remover. At least it used to be.

The stuff I've used is certainly not acetone.... it is odourless and comes in in a jelly-like form. I would certainly recommend caution on paintwork

I've just 'googled' this:

"Pour lemon drops on the glue. Wait for some time. Then add common table salt in the same place. This mixture will dissolve the super glue. Then you can peel off the adhesive from the surface."

I've no idea if it works but it's worth a try

hello mate just use standard thiners it wont harm the paint as long as its not new just put it on a cloth and hold it on it will just wipe off after a short time ive done it myself

if it has been on a while get a flat blade (stanley , not in the holder ,blade only, then take the top off the glue stain ) get some 1500 or 1200 wet and dry, some warm water with washing up liqued and flat it down carful not to rub the laquer off then mop it with g3 compound paste this will remove it
