Hey! I've won tickets in the Cloverleaf Club competition!
But I can't go.

Shame my friend, you can't make it.

Anyone else going? I seem to have bagged meself a pair, from the nice people at the Cloverleaf Club

Now, for a Goodwood virgin like me, does anyone have any good hints & tips,

Ta,

Cody

Make sure you have somewhere to stay. In my experience it is very difficult to get anywhere near to the circuit unless you book way in advance. It's a few years since we were there but we stayed in a university hall of residence (they rent the rooms out during the summer holidays) - comfy en suite rooms and a proper fry-up served in the morning. Good value too.

Sounds like it wasn't much of a competition!

They just gave the tickets away didn't they.

Very difficult to do it all in one day. Try to get there early to see the paddocks as they get very busy.

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed

Ta for the tips,

Would be nice to stay overnight, but in case not, does anyone have a sneaky back route (!) to approach from, to avoid the snarl ups I'm expecting in the morning?

Cheers,

Cody

Re: Goodwood Festival of Speed

get there for when the gates open, 7am. first car goes up the hill at 8.30 so that gives you time to look round the cars before the crowds arrive. it used to open at 8 and first car at 10.30 which was better

the banking above molecombe corner is very good for viewing unless you have grandstand tickets,

all the cars apart from the supercars go up twice on a saturday and sunday once in the morning and again in the afternoon.

a fold up chair is a must as is waterproofs and sunblock, ive been soaked to the skin and sunburnt in the same day before,

the only downside to molecombe is that its rubbish for viewing the air displays, i hope the 747 is there again this year, watching a 747 being chucked around low over the countryside is fantastic
fingers crossed that he has asked the vulcan to display as well.

oh and wear good footwear as well as theres quite a bit of walking to do.

Advice, be prepared for the cost of food and drink, take a little chair unless you wanna stand all day. Not sure about the weather, but it's sunny in Petersfield at the moment. If it rain throughout the week you'll get very muddy, but the forest stage will be awesome
