The Perfect Alfa Mongrel

I've just concocted my idea of the perfect Alfa mongrel. This is because I genuinely had absolutely nothing better to do.

You can take all the best bits from your favourite Alfas... only proviso is that the car has to live outside all year round, be used every day and cover 12,000 miles a year. So no rusty Alfettas with 33 Stradale engines.

Here's mine:

Body: 156 Sportwagon of course (pre-facelift)
Engine:156 or 147 GTA
Chassis and gearbox: SZ (ES30)
Brakes: Big brembos
Glass roof: from a Brera
Build quality: 159 standard (but not one of the crap ones)
Seats: GT type, in leather
Wheels: 17" Ti type alloys as fitted to 156 & 147
Briefcase: the one from the Alfa 90 that fits in the dashboard

And there you have it: perfect. A rear wheel drive V6 156 with a sky view, folding rear seats and a fitted briefcase. What more could you want?

Oh, one more thing... no waffling on about how the gearbox from the SZ won't technically fit the GTA engine, actually, without fitting a triple trunion widget bolt from a 1976 Lamborghini Espada because I'm not interested. It's just a bit of fun innit!

Any more for any more?

Nice try Monsieur Nev but no cigar.

Only Alfa bits allowed I'm afraid. Them's the rules.

8C body, 8C engine, 8C chassis, 8C wheels, 8C interior, 8C drivetrain. I think you see where I'm going with this…

Yes i do

You want an 8C car fitted into an 75 body shell - as that was the only bit left

166 body, seats, everything you see, feel and touch.

Underneath SZ chassis, supercharged GTA engine.
It'd be the only car I'd ever need in my whole life.

Re: The Perfect Alfa Mongrel

If I had a lot of money, I'd take the 164 Q4 drivetrain and upgrade my engine to a 3.7 supercharged. Wouldn't cost all that much I don't suppose. I certainly wouldn't ever want another car.
