Mito magazine road tests, reviews

Hi guys,

Do any of our mainland Europe members know when their respective car mags will be reviewing the Mito?

The pre-launch reviews must me due with in the next few weeks, surely? Does anyone get Quattroroute or GenteMotori (sp?). I know the italian reviews will be patriotically biased (but who cares about that when when AutoCar keeps telling us that the woeful looking new Jag saloon is gorgeous); but we can read between the lines of the Italian reviews to see how Mito will be received by the Uk press. Obviously. the Autocar review will follow precisely the same format of all Alfa reviews in the last 20 years:

Test 1: Stand alone early review in Italy: "Still want that MINI? Brilliant new Mito set to shake Cooper" Mito is a world beater that banishes the 'ape' driving position for good, and totally captures the essence of the 'Sud, while setting new standards for handling and ride."

Test 2: Autocar takes a MINI and another competitor car to Italy to test Mito back to back. "Mito is a class leader for sure, but we need to test it on UK roads to be sure about this blinding class leader.

Test 3: Uh oh. Stand alone review. "Mito is ok, but the ride/driving position/brakes are flawed. Will need to test against the MINI in next week's issue for final verdict." Hmm, I think we know where this is going, don't we?

Test 4: "Best of Britain trounces Italian upstart". And de dum de dum de dum...

That aside, if you spot a Quattroroute review - or know of one coming up - pls let me know.

Cheers gang,

g

I see you've read many of these reviews before, g. So close to the truth it's uncanny.

Re: Mito magazine road tests, reviews

Pretty much sums up everything i think of about Autocar.

I remember the New Fiat bravo review. They went on for ages about how good it was. 4 pages and not a single bad comment. at the end they slipped in that the driving position wasn't the best and the cabin materials "could have been better" (sounds entirely like personal preference to me). And gave it 3 stars. I wasn't impressed.

This months Quattroruote had a pre-launch review as did the Italian issue of Top Gear. If I had a working scanner I wouldpost up, however . . . . . . . .

Re: Mito magazine road tests, reviews

Just ordered a back issue of L'Automobile Magazine (April/May 08) which
has a (non drive) article on the Mito and projections on the
149 and 169.

(Worth a punt for only €4. )
