Re: What car instead of my GTV

My JTS pulls in between 300-350 on a tank and most of that is urban stuff........... Positively frugal compared to the 2.8 auto BMW I had before..........

My Thermostat (Just fitted a new one) sit's at somewhere close to 85/88 when warm, with the fan kicking in about 91/92 ish in traffic..........

Not only are you going to burn more fuel running cold and 70 is cold.........but you aren't doing your recon engine any favours.......... Your oild is designed to run around the ngine and work best at normal running temperatures.

Cheers To All

Re: What car instead of my GTV

My GTV ts (now sold) used to sit just above 90 in traffic and I never had any problems. Don't forget that the senders and actual gauges won't be super accurate, they are really there as an indication rather than gospel.

As for fuel consumption, it used to do about 400ish miles to a tank (running it to nearly empty rather than when the light came on) dropping to 350 if I drove it briskly or did lots of stop - start driving.

Re: What car instead of my GTV

when I had my TS I could get 400 out of a tank, I now have the 3.2 V6 and can get 350 out of the tank so I think that you have a problem

Re: What car instead of my GTV

Done some sensible driving and some motorway, fuel consumption has improved and now does 400 miles per tank, and there must have been an air lock in the radiator, I opened the valve let the air out so runs and between 85-90 constanty which is brilliant

Re: What car instead of my GTV

How about a Fiat Coupe 20VT? It doesn't sound quite as good and arguably the GTV looks better, but... It does 30mpg fairly easily (more on a run) and is faster than a 3 litre GTV, as well as being more practical.

The other running costs will be similar though.

On the temperature; It sits between 75 and 90 most of the time, but i have noticed that when in traffic it does go slighly over 90 when the fan kicks in it goes back down to 90?

Actually I think Tom's car sounds fine to be honest...
