Re: GTA Mito?

With petrol prices where they are, emissions caps, etc, it makes sense.

But only if you are driving it hard. In normal day to day driving , for any given body shape , it is really the weight that 'consumes the fuel' .
For example, the fuel consumption difference between a 1.4 Tubo and a 1.8 turbo will be largely down to weight difference when cruising. Obviously if you are using the full performance you will pay for the privilege

Re: GTA Mito?

What is about the turbo that bothers you Pokinacha? The lack of heritage or the way the car would drive? The sound of the engine?

Re: GTA Mito?

All of the above. A real GTA is a pure thing. A highly tuned twincam driving the back wheels with no ECU or ABS or traction control. lately GTA have been hitting the pies and getting lazy. more power but more weight, driving thru the front hoops and losing that finess that they once had. Similar to what happened between the E30 M3 and the E46 M3. The way it would drive doesn't bother me much but there is NO replacment for an Alfa twincam. Such aural beauty. That is one of the redeeming features of my 156 GTA apart from the looks, the drive, the handling, the sound is just so Alfa

Re: GTA Mito?

How much of the weight increase on the GTAs is due to the bigger engine?

No matter how antiquated it is

I don't even know what that word means. please remember i am from a convict colony and my spelling, pronouciation and alliteration are not as well evolved as all you elequent buggers.

And yes the new ones are quadcam but i was refering to the original...

An i will take said opinion and force feed it to you if you do not agree with me

Probably quite a lot. the 2002 156 GTA weights in at just under 1500Kg. I'm sure someone can provide the curb weight of a TS.

Ironic considering the A in GTA stands for Alegerita which means lightened.

Re: GTA Mito?

The 2.0 TS is 1,585 kg according to this website.

Well, that's sort of my point. If most of the weight gain is engine related, I'd expect the "A" bit to come from other parts of the car. The GTAs shouldn’t necessarily be lighter but lighter on a like-for-like basis.

Anyway, let's hope the MiTo GTA will be out soon
