Thumbs Up AO Car of the Year 2008: The Nominations

Well, we couldn't have a year go by without another AO COTY Competition, now could we?

Format is almost the same as last year's: there will be one winner for each model lounge and then an additional poll for the overall car of the year…so there will be 10 Lounge Winners and 1 overall winner.

The overall winner will receive a one year Premio subscription to the Alfaowner Club as prize and AO Car of the Year in their profile.

Lounge winners will earn the right to have Lounge Name Lounge Winner in their profile.

Here are the Lounges that are in the competition:
  1. Alfa 145 & 146
  2. Alfa 147, 156 & GT
  3. Alfa 155
  4. Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider
  5. Alfa 164 & 166
  6. Alfa 33, Sud & Sprint
  7. Alfa 75, RZ, SZ
  8. Alfa GTA
  9. Alfa GTV & 916 Spider
  10. The Classic Alfa Romeos

Format

1. There will be a period of two weeks from this post to nominate or enter a car.

2. The Mods and Admin will decide which cars are eligible for the polls in the event of more than ten nominations per lounge. Less than ten cars will guarantee a place in the respective lounge voting!

3. Polls will be set up to allow voting for each model lounge, these will run for two weeks.

4. A winner will be declared for each lounge.

5. A final poll, consisting of all the lounge winners will be set up and run for one week.

6. An overall winner will be announced.

Instructions

1. Entry is by posting one picture in this thread, or link to a picture, with the Lounge it is nominated for.

2. You must include brief details of the car and the reason(s) you are putting it forward for consideration.

Rules

1. Entrants with more than one car are free to enter their other cars in the respective lounges, but only one per lounge.

2. Unlike last year, nominations can only be provided for other AOer's cars. You must have the car owners' consent and you may nominate a maximum of one car per lounge.

3. Voting will be public and closely monitored by alfaowner.com staff.

4. Any vote rigging, or behaviour not considered to be in the spirit of the "competition", will be dealt with severely.

5. Vote rigging consists of organised campaigns, use of additional or multiple accounts, coercion, promoting membership for voting purposes or any other method to increase votes for one entrant, against the spirit of the competition.

6. The recipient of the vote rigging will be removed from the contest and sanctions may be imposed on the participants.

7. Decisions made to remove pictures/votes or impose sanctions will be the result of at least two Mods or Admin agreeing the sanction; and not open for further discussion.

8. Alfaowner.com reserve the right to end the competition early or amend the rules, in the event of error or abuse of the process.

9. Any questions should be directed to classicgal93 or BigFoot.

10. Finally...please do not undermine this light hearted competition, ruining the hard work of all involved and the forum, or spoil it for the car/owners nominated.

May the Games begin

I nominate shiny_car's GT 3.2 for it's ABSOLUTE EXTREME attention to detail in it's various mods, whilst retaining the original beauty that AR intended. Also for how it lives up to the owner's name. Like no other.

Re: AO Car of the Year 2008: The Nominations

I nominate classicgal93's Commemorative Edition Spider S4 for the Classic Alfa Lounge

It's a rare car (probably the only one on AO), extremely well looked after and unlike CG's other Spider, it doesn't have a BMW transmission

Re: AO Car of the Year 2008: The Nominations

Well, keep some goods pics handy.

Once the polls are launched, nominees can post additional photos of their cars (in moderation and in line with the spirit of the competition)

Re: AO Car of the Year 2008: The Nominations

My first nomination is for Squadrone Rosso's 159 Ti in the Alfa 159, Brera & 946 Spider Lounge

Main reason for the nomination is - I Haven't been a fan of the 159 it always looked too plain & not as immediately appealing as the 156 it replaced, but SR's Ti Spec is truly superb, the style with the larger 19" wheels, Leather interior and Ti additions make it. The 2.2jts engine is smooth and responsive, I have travelled many miles with Simon and can't fault the build quality or the ride.

There are some beautiful Alfa's out there, just check with the owner before nominating them. We hope to fill up all the lounges.
