147 Key Problems

Hi guys- i've had a quick look but can't find a similar post.

I have a 147 and the remote central locking doesn't seem to work. When i first got the car the remote seemed to work ok, was a bit stubborn but wasn't too bad.

Slowly but surely I had to stand closer and closer to the car until it stopped working. for both keys. I replaced the batteries and although worked one or twice it doesn't at all anymore.

no matter what i do it wont work.

any ideas?

Re: 147 Key Problems

Both keys worked and are the lights still flashing in the keys?

Faulty receiver sensor maybe

Re: 147 Key Problems

Hi,

I am having exactly the same problem. Apparently it could be the receiver in the car, though noone seems to know where that is, but also the keys for alfa 147s apparently have a habit of slowly dying, which basicaly means you need a new key which needs recoding to the car which is very expensive. There is however a guy on ebay that fixes keys for about £20-£30, he is able to fit a new circuit board in the key, which will again need recoding to the car. This is much cheaper as a new key will cost £120+ and then £30+ for recoding. However, if it is the receiver that is the problem and not the key, then neither a new circuit board or a new key will solve the problem. It is risky but i think worth a try. If you search for the Alfa 147 key repair on ebay you should find the guy, his name is Chris, email him and he will help you out, he is very courteous and helpful.

Does anyone at all know where the receiver is in the car? The best I know is its near the rear parcel shelf though I can't find it at all.
