Alfa warranty

Hello all,

Long time lurker, my first post - this week I took the plunge and put a deposit down for a used Brera at an Alfa dealership!

But the service logbook on this car was blank! Not even the VIN/reg had been filled in. The car is just over one year old (first registered Jan/2007) and the dealer just serviced the car this week after taking my deposit (first service as the car has less than 5,000 m).

They assured me that the 3 year warranty is still valid - even though the first service is about 45 days late. Is there a fixed limit on how late services can be not to invalidate the warranty? Should I be worried?

Thanks!

Leo

Re: Alfa warranty

If you buy from an Alfa main dealer and the car is not an import it should have 3 years warranty from newe.Get them to check who did the PDi on it that should be documented somewhere.

Re: Alfa warranty

I'm guessing that the car is an ex demo so they didn't bother filling in the service book etc until now !!
The third year warranty will be provided by the dealer and not ARUK so you'll have to take them on their word but personally I'd get it confirmed in writing from them !!
As to whether you should be worried... well that all depends on which dealer you're buying it from !!
IMO if it's one that based in West London then you'll be fine... if it's one based in another part of London then I hope for your sake they don't have the attitude that some of their other franchises have (I hear that they don't though )

Re: Alfa warranty

You should get everything in writing. If you don't have it, you are open to warranty claims being refused and you won't have a leg to stand on. Hopefully you won't need it but of you do, relying on good intentions when you bought it may not wash two or three years down the line.

Cheers,

Nigel

Re: Alfa warranty

As Nomad and ferryman have said - get evrything in writing including the fact that the car was serviced late due it being sat on their forcourt.
