Re: How many Alfas have you owned?

Only five in total for me so far, three at the moment:

'91 33 16v (1992 - 1995)
'85 GTV6 (1995 - 1996)
'95 RZ (1998 onwards)
'98 GTV V6 (2005 onwards)
'06 147 1.6 TI (2006 onwards)

Think these dates are right...the RZ was built '93, first registered '95.

I wouldn't say I was disappointed by any of them.

Re: How many Alfas have you owned?

11 years driving (where's the time gone!) and 8 cars, all Italian and passed my test in my Panda

1987 33 ti 1998-2000 I think
Never let me down, not very well put together always rattled. But all could be forgiven thanks to that twin carb boxer that popped and farted on the overrun like a race car . Still own this one but been off the road for years.

1991 75 TS 2000-2001 again I think
Great car well balanced RWD fun with a bomb proof engine.

2003 156GTA 2005 - present
As 156GTASW said, I just don't know what could replace this. This is a bit of a love hate relationship, i can't really justify the expense and thought the 156 would be a better and cheaper proposition than my earlier flurry with a Lania integrale. The integrale cost about £1500-£2000 a year to keep going with suspension bushes timing belts and gereral bits and bobs. Thus far the GTA has proved to be pretty similar, and quite dissapointing when it comes to suspension bush durability. That said I don't smoke, don't do drugs, don't have kids and work bloody hard so it's my bit of fun.

Re: How many Alfas have you owned?

3 Alfa's so far

All Spiders

1977 Spider, good little car, had a few problems but mostly it was the rust that made me sell her. The back wheel wells were needing replacing.

1993 Spider Veloce, I have the hard top on this one and drive it in the lousy weather.

1994 Spider Veloce Ce, last Spider brought into North America. I have #111 of 190. This is my summer Spider, the fair weathered one.

Re: How many Alfas have you owned?

33 QV 1.7 - started the bug! was a great fun car. had a few niggles (electrics), and eventually died (cam lobe came off).
155 2.0ts - most reliable car I have had (5 years so far, servicing only). just great. unfortunately the rosso red paint is now failing...
GTV V6 - 4 years so far - had a couple of minor hiccups (brake master cylinder and battery, rear wheel alignment), but still great fun every time I drive it

Re: How many Alfas have you owned?

This takes me back.... I wish I never sold some of these

In order:
1.) First car (other than the Fiat 128 Rally that I inherited when I was 16) was a Alfasud 1.5 single carb in 1988... I loved that car, Finally I killed it against a truck in 1993
2.) My dad and I co-owned a Sprint till 1992 till rust took it
3.)1983 33 1.5 bought at auction cheaply, sold it again after NEVER being able to drive it, (I was in the Army)
4.)1976/7 Bertone GTV 2000 , sold in 2000 to start the Giardinetta project, car is now somewhere in the UK
5.)1983 - Giardinetta (still own and love)
6.)1996 - 155 2.0 TS (should never have sold it )
7.)1985 - Sprint Mk3 (this gave me lots of problems, eventually sold it back to the original owner) probably the worst, but I still loved it.
8.)1985 - Sprint Mk3 project car, sold due to co-owner emigrating to NZ.
9.)1983 Sud Giardinette spares mule (still got it, much to the annoyance of my wife)
10.) 2003 147 2.0 TS . Great car, not as fun as the 155 that it replaced
11.) 1972 Bertone GT Junior (still owned and loved)
12.) 1976 Spider S2 (still owned and loved)
13.) 156 2.5 V6 SW (love it so much I will not sell it)

Uh-oh.... 13, best I get another one soon to get off the unlucky number
In fairness , at least two of them are/were spares cars, and two were co-owned with other people.

Other Italians:
I also co-owned a Mazer Bi-Turbo , and a Lancia Fulvia

I also had the Fiat 128, Lancia Beta Spider (ok, it was in pieces...) and an Aprillia RS250 .....

Now that is one rare car - a sud estate if my memory serves me right?

Any pics you can post, I've only ever seen one and it was a very rusty neglected one at Ruspers, quite a few years ago now.

Does it handle like a true Sud?

Re: How many Alfas have you owned?

Hi Muz

Plenty of pics in my Garage area.... and yes, its a Sud Estate

Handles better than a normal Sud (well, mine does courtesy of an Eibach spring set), and it is the lightest Sud that can be found...
