I've seen others refurb similar red brembos simply by rubbing back lightly with very fine wet dry i.e. 2500/3000 grit then spraying with lacquer. But I'm not sure whether I'd need to replace the decals.

I've found this company HERE but wanted to check firstly before buying, does anyone know if you can get new decals at the dealers?
Cheers

Immobiliz Code Fault on GTA after battery discharged

I have experienced a problem with my GTA when the battery went flat after the car was left standing for a long preiod without being used. The battery went flat enough to prevent the starter motor from kicking the engine over and when I tried to start the car the battery reached a state when it caused an immobiliser fault.

I tried both of the keys but could not clear the fault. As the fault seem to coincide with the flat battery I thought it may be possible to clear it by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting. I left the battery disconnected for a few minutes but this did not clear the fault.

I then thought I should try and leave the battery disconnected for a longer period and left the car overnight and reconnected the battery the next day and voila the damn thing cleared and the engine fired up with no furtehr problems. It seems that it doesn't take much for the GTA's tiny Italian brain to get scrambled.

These cars can be incredibly frustrating to fix. It was looking like I may have needed to tow the damn car to an Alfa repairer to get it going.

Now I have a Right Hand Front Sidelight failure on the GTA and also on my GT. When I first purchased the GT the left hand front sidelight failed in the 1sty week of ownership and this ended up being a 4 hour job just to replace it after finally managing to purchase the correct H4 bulb. Don't ask me why they use the H4 bulbs as they certaily don't seem to last! So that is 3 bulbs gone on two vehicles. Atrocious design in that the headlight cluster needs to be removed just to change this small globe. This involves removal of the front bumper bar and one road wheel plus the inner mudgard material just to change out a lousy globe! I am really not looking forward to going through the replacement exercise on both cars.

I'm thinking of upgrading my brakes to 330s. However, I would like to keep the original 17" GTA multispokes. I know these don't clear the standard 330 setup, but I know if you use different bolts on the calipers or shave the bolt heads they can be made to fit. There was a thread on here quite a while back by someone that had done this - anyone recall who that was, or done it themselves? I can't find that original thread.

Hi chaps,

my first post so please be gentle. I have a GTA with just over 30,000 miles on the clock but is now six years old. Having read all the posts re the cam belt I thought I'd replace it. Checking the car over I noticed that the radiator was totally rotten so put that on the list of parts to be replaced.

So I bought:
1 cam belt,
1 cam belt tensioner
2 idler pulleys
1 water pump
1 radiator
2 cam cover gaskets
6 plug hole seals

and all the Alfa specific tools to do the job including the cam locks for the 3.2 GTA engine.

Cam belt changed along with all the above over the course of a week, nightmare job, but did it and car started straight up - yay me.

However since the job was done the water temp will climb to 90, just after 90 degrees stage one of the fans will kick in. Temp will continue to climb till stage two kicks in. However whilst the temp will stop climbing (now at 100) the fans will not reduce the temp and they run and run.

The above is whilst the car is stationary. Whdn driven the temp climbs to 90 and stays there.

I tried bleeding the radiator in accordance with the workshop manual by removing the plastic screw from the rad and making sure coolant bled out. The radiator gets hot too.

Any ideas? I'm stumped. Pulling the new water pump fills me with despair, so any ideas at all will be gratefully received or any testing strategies, especially of the pump itself.

Many thanks

Hi all, I've only owned my 156 gta a couple of weeks now, but all I can say is wow! I've had some quick cars, but this gta feels very "brisk" haha, out of curiosity I had the car rolling roaded, and she pulled 283bhp. The car as far as I'm aware is completely standard, and was running on normal unleaded fuel not vpower or anything! To say I was chuffed is an understatement.

Has anyone else had supprising results? And do you think mine has been fettled with slightly?

Thanks

On both of my rear doors, they catch the sill on both sides towards the rear of the door. The paint gets rubbed off and surface rust comes through. I regularly rub it down and touch up, but a few weeks later it is back, where it catches.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it possible to re-align the rear doors at all to raise by a few mm at the rear?

Pic attached of affected area.
Thanks

Hi, this is my first post and I'm after a bit of help.

Some idiot (without insurance) decided to re-model my rear door a month or two ago so I've been on the lookout for a second-hand rear door.

I understand that the Sportwagon rear doors are different from the Saloon, but I'd like to know if they changed when it was facelifted in 2003... The reason I ask is because there's a door on eBay but it says 2003 onwards http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...id=p2759.l1259 but look like it might well fit???

Thanks in advance
