just in front ofthe battery tray there is a large connector block for the loom which feeds the left hand relays on the front of the battery tray, runs to the rad resistor, fan motor and beyond to earth and then to a connector associated with the a/c. This large connector plug has a row of around eight small pins inside and what can only be described as three plastic tangs running down the centre line of the connector block and it had been a ******* to get the old one off and even harder to get the replacement loom back in again. there appear to be four plastic lugs on the outide of this connector plug itself, which seem to impinge on its replacement back into the main loom.Do Alfa have some kind of special tool to get it back in again?

Just testing the water. In the last couple of weeks I've realised that I need a whole lot more space than I currently have in the GTV

She's a 1998 Vela Blue TS with tan leather interior and trim. Taxed till end of October, MOT'd till June 2011.
Recent engine rebuild courtesy of iainfm on here. Purchased from him for £1800 in June. Has 105k on the clock but doesn't drive like it! Also just had new brake discs, pipes, suspension ball joint, drop links and bushes.

Drop me a line if anyone's interested. Don't care if it's petrol or diesel, twinny or v6, saloon or sportwagon. But please no 1.6's.

Hi everyone, my 1st post! Please be gentle :)

Bought an 02 147 1.6 120bhp Lusso a couple of months ago, it's been fun and "mostly reliable" till now....

My central locking is acting up. The remote will set and switch off the alarm but will not lock the doors. The lock button on the dash won't work. Tried to lock them with the key but that won't work either. Tried on both doors but the key won't turn to the left. Brought it to a local mechanic for a diagnosis (Not an Alfa specialist, the nearest to me is around 100miles away!). He plugged it in and the diagnostics came up as normal. Oh, and i can hear a faint clicking from behind the drivers side dash when i press lock on the remote.

Came home this evening and searched a couple of threads, disconnected the battery to try and reset everything, that didn't work either! I'm at a total loss here, any ideas or help would absolutely wonderful!

Im thinking about removing the sound proofing under the bonnet save for weight, but am worried about the paint blistering under the bonnet and excessive noise.

Has anyone done this to a 147?

Thanks

have had my 156 for 9 months, i always keep a piece of card underneath my car in the garage overnight and since getting the car i havent had a hint of anything.
but i had a service at my local indy a week ago and since have had what looks like just one drip of oil overnight on 4 seperate mornings.
its very inconsistent as i think i had 3 mornings in a row with a new drip and the a 2 or 3 day break before the next one:confused:
it is off to the left hand side slightly, any ideas ?
what could they have done during the service to cause a leak ?
thanks

Of course the exhaust is on ruber mounts and so is the engine, but regardless I just wondered what you should unplug/ disconnect before welding on a 156? its a 1.9 JTDm 16v, 2004.

Back in my day taking the battery off my old motors was good enough, but that was back in the days of points, dizzy caps and coils!!
