I recently had a new power steering pump fitted to my Alfa GT 1.9 JTD.
Unfortunately on my way home from the (indie) garage the motor control failure warning light appeared, the engine died and I coasted to a halt. I got the garage to come and rescue me and take the car back to see what had happened. Needless to say I was unimpressed.
I have now been informed that the issue is water pump and associated early timing belt failure which google tells me is a common enough issue.
It is rather galling that this happened on the way home from the garage and I can't help but suspect that they somehow messed up when fitting the power steering pump resulting in a hefty bill for me.
Would any of you experts have any idea if this would be likely? e.g. are the parts near to each other in the engine?
Any help much appreciated
