Leaking fuel pump, 1,9JTD 8V

I have a 156SW 1,9JTD 2001. It does not start and I can se diesel coming out from the fuel pump. It is coming from a lid fastened by four torx bolts.

Anyone knows whats under the lid? Is it repairable?

Any shortcuts on the job, I think I have to remove the timing belt.

If it's the top block you might be lucky and be able to get it off without removing the pump. On saying that my pump began to leak from the top block but soon developed a leak from underneath too. I removed the pump. It's a pig of a job.
The seals need changing which is the easiest part of the job.
Do you use alot of fuel additive?

Have been told on the norwegian forum that it is possible to remove pump without removing timing belt, the trick is to secure the pulley. Have old timing belt, will change it and try to fix the pump then. Hope I can get some spare seals.

HAve used fuel additive, but not alot. Do you think it damages the seals?

Will post when finished, but can take time. Have another car, but not much time for the moment.

If it is the same as the 16 valve then yes you can secure the pulley using 2 bolts to the backing plate, if I remember correctly the threaded holes are at about 2 o clock and 10 o clock positions.
I used 2 bolts from the cam cover.
When you refit the pump dont over tighten the nut as the pulley can crack.
There are a few 'how to' videos on you tube on astra's and vectra's. they have the same engine

I don't know if additive damages the seals. I do know that the previous owner of my car used it every month when he owned the car. The seals in my pump were completely perished. Also the new seal kit contained seals that appeared to be made of a different material to the originals.
