Does it have to be a Bosch MAF?

I'm about to spend the value of my Alfa on new parts to keep it purring, and running at all, if the truth be told.
Amoung the list is a new MAF, which I was intending to replace with the Bosch one, but have found one cropping up on various sites. and wondered if anyone here has any experience of it.

Luchtmassameter PIERBURG Alfa Meer Flow+Vermogen 7.22701.05.

Its made by PIERBURG and appears to sit in the original housing.
Its also half the price, so i'm a little suspicious.

Now, I don't intend to do all that work, and spend all that money simply to throw a cheap part in that lasts five minutes, so i don't need much convincing to go for the Bosch part.

What do you think?

Pierburg MAFs have been a disaster for a lot of Rover owners - failing in no time at all, a total false economy.

Pierburg Carbs were a load of crap as well back in the day.

I would steer clear of them, as well as other non Bosch MAF's.

Only the Bosch ones seem to work ok.

Looks like it's Bosch then!! I'm about to order one for my 2004 GTV
I've read some posts saying the MAF is the same as tghe one for an Astra 1.7 Diesel.
Does anyone agree?
Is that a Bosch?

I am pretty sure Vauxhalls use Bosch, as do Citroen.

Make sure you get the seller to give you the number on the ones they are selling so you can check it is the same as yours.

i recently bought a MAF for my 159 diesel and the box (non alfa) listed it as vaux/saab/alfa. Bought from eurocarparts for £160 and is a genuine bosch unit
