Power Loss at 4400 RPM : 1.6 TS CF2

Hi, hope someone can advise on this as I'm lost now.

Car :156, 2001, 1.6 Twin Spark (CF2)

Problem : No power after 4400RPM under load as if hitting a rev limiter, but revs high without load

History : Intermitent power loss with engine warning light, became permenent. Failed component fault code for lambda sensor bank 2 (Pre Cat). Replaced lambda sensor (very slight improvement for a brief time then same as before). Cleaned MAF (no change). Replaced MAF (no change). Reset ECU (more responsive at low revs but still hits the wall at 4400)

Would be very grateful for any ideas.

Maybe a partially-blocked CAT or exhaust. Sounds a bit like what my old Scrote did when the ceramic cat disintegrated.

Top marks, thanks.

Update :
Took out the lambda sensor & gave it a quick test. It climbed up the revs nicely.
Visual check and tapping around, everything looked good except back box, which had quite a lot of external corrosion. As that seemed the prime suspect I drilled a hole in front of it to check. Didn't make any diffference, so almost definetly a CAT. The front CAT pair are quite hot, but the second CAT is cooler than I would expect, so I suspect the front CAT.

2001 would be CF3...

Let me know if you need anything. I'm breaking a 1.6 156 CF3 at the moment. Exhaust system is serviceable.
