I have tested swapped crank sensor its ok

I know that there is a fuel cut off switch under the passengers seat in my 156 - have you got something similar and has this been triggered ?

I have fuel to the fuel rail so counts out the cut out switch.
I have sent rarebear a pm re a cable as I cannot think what it can be was thinking cam phase sensor but the general feeling on here is that it should not stop it from starting but thankyou for taking the trouble to try and help as any suggestion is welcome as brainstorming is always good as throws up things not thought of

If it is the cam sensor then it should start and run when cold and cut out when hot (if I have understood all the threads on this subject correctly)

That's the crank sensor you're thinking of. A failed cam sensor doesn't affect much...it limits the revs to 3,000 rpm on ME7.3.1 ECUs, but that's about all!

sounds like a possible bad earth somewhere?
you have checked the cam belt is ok?

It wont be any sensor's except the Crank sensor (although on a CF1 the TPS sensor might be iffy) on start up.

Make sure you have the crank sensor fitted correctly as the "o" ring from the old one might still be in there, non bosch one's tend to be a little tighter to fit in too.

Hi Biffa
cam belt is fine, no O ring in crank sensor checked that, tps would I not have thought that would have mattered as I am not on the starting stage yet as no fuel from Injectors I thought of the bad earth and had a jump lead from chassis to engine coil packs but will have another look re that but must be honest in that everything else works it is getting to the stage where it will be going to ebay for a project for someone

chances are it will be a corroded terminal on the injector relay which is causing a lack of earth. The 155's used to suffer badly with this. The relay on a 155 was round the battery area.
Not sure where it is on a spider though

BBOB issue... Pull all the relays in and around the battery and engine bay, make sure you check the crimps and connector repair and replace any that look dodgy...

Dho just remembered the battery is in the boot...

Hi Biffa
you are 100% with the earth got power to coil packs so should be ok for spark now as for the injectors if i put the earth wire to chassis i get full 12v and injector works so next thing is do you know where the common eath is for these rather than running a seperate earth to each cleaned relay but it is showing good earth there
cheers
Jason

Check the earth on the rear of the head near the Throttle body and the one going to the gearbox...

Did you connect the earth between the steering rack and starter motor? (The horn won't work if you didn't).

Is there a strap between the gearbox and the chassis leg.

Definitely fitted on a Ph1. Pretty sure it's on a Ph2 as well...
