2.4 jtd high pressure fuel pump solenoid

HI,

I have had a non starting issue diagnosed as its not producing enough fuel pressure......the guy reckons its the solenoid on the side of the high pressure fuel pump....he told me it was near £300 for the solenoid alone. Has anybody else heard of this or know where to try to get one of these other than ebay and breaker yards.

Who did the diagnosis ?

Did they give you the fault code/s ?

No he didnt give me the code....but it is a guy that works for fiat/alfa. He brought the diagnostic tablet pc home with him and wired it up to the ecu this morning. When he was turning the engine over the fuel pressure was only reading 7.6 bar, he said it should be 2/300 bar when turning over. He did some other tests and reckoned it was the solenoid on the side of the high pressure pump.

I see you can get a reconditioned pump for £200 exchange from bba reman or diesel jones...do these reconditioned pumps come with the solenoid attached?

Hi have you replace fuel filter and take pump out of tank that has filter on it aswell. My mate got a 2.4jtd it had all ready had solenoid replaced but wouldn't run. Replaced filter and cleaned tank filter now runs sweet.

No havnt done that...will bear that in mind. Was just looking to find out the prices of this stuff as this guy works for alfa and was quoting "alfa dealer" prices! Was saying this solenoiy in workd is £300 alone never mind the pump. Said there a guy in work who has a 2nd hand pump and solenoid and would probly sell them both for the price of one them seperatly i.e. £300. Dont want to be paying that sounds a bit expensive as you can get a reconditioned pump for £200...thats why I was wondering did the solenoid come with reconditioned pumps.

Yeah my in tank pump was smegged up with waxy snotty stuff and with the engine bay fuel filter replaced ran sweet as!

But I also helped on another job where the pump was screwed!

Get some fault codes!
