156 2.4 jtd immobiliser problem

Hi, I have a 2000 2.4 10v 156 which had an internittent fault with the immobiliser every now and again where the key code light stayed on.
It has now got alot worse as i am having to turn the ignition on and off about 10 times to get the light off, the car battery is about shagged so am fitting a new one tomorrow and see how that helps, and i have also read about the wiring and connections behind the column, the main point to this thread is can the immobiliser be removed completely?????

The battery being low probably wont be helping. The connections you want to be checking are the ones that run from the coil around the ignition barrel to the black code box which is located just to the rite of the steering collum just behind the top left of the fuse box. It is possible to remove the immobiliser. To do it the ecu must first be virginised and the connections to the code box must then be disconected and an emulator fitted in its place. Doing this will affect your insurance though

You'll need a good (new) battery bud, have found out on a few occasions that this is key with Alfa's!

Guys

Can anyone tell me whether this is normal with the keycode light! Just fitted a new turbo, so the battery has been off... When I've put it all back together and tried to start, it won't start (although when I pull the fuel line off there is no sign of fuel - I've filled the fuel filter canister) and the keycode light stays on the dash whilst turning. If I turn for too long there's a bleep comes from inside the car??

When you removed your battery you must have disturbed the relays that are next to it,they are all for the injection ecu and pump,remove them one at a time ,check that the connections are goood,no broken wires or contacts and it should be ok.

Thanks for that! You were bang on... one broken wire with a new connector and it fires straight up.
