V6 60K Service Schedule Advice
Hey all,
My car is due it's 60K service and one of the things on the service is Spark Plugs, now when I bought the car I had a BIG service done back in July 2008 at 42K which included all the usual 48K service and additionally.
Cambelt and Tensioner and Idler
Water Pump (Metal Impellor)
Spark Plugs
Aux Belt
I had a full interim service with full oil change for engine and gearbox in feb 2009 and an interim oil service and alignment in feb 2010 at 55K
So my question is.
At this 60K service do I need to have new spark plugs? I ask as I have been previously told that the rear bank is a nightmare to get at and it can be quite costly.
Cheers
Sean

Yes the spark plugs are due at 60k, no it is not that hard to do, you remove the intake manifold and the coils under that is the 3 plugs. should take about 40 mins to do if you know what you are doing, front ones about 20 mins. but the 60 service is oil and filter, air filter and plugs for the service.
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards AlfaTech

I changed my plugs at both the belt changes, so 48k each set approx.
I wouldnt personally think they need doing if they only have 18k on them

Just be careful with the engine wiring loom which has to come off for the job.
The GT's never idled quite right post major service (engine out) & often gives MCSF warning when idling from cold.
Seemingly it's running rich on the rear banks.
Ned was having some new looms made up to replace the originals that go brittle over time so must find out where he is with that

They won't need doing yet!
2 years and 18k.... Plenty of life left in them

Just needs oil filter & air filter and general checking of fluids, levels, bushes, brakes etc seen as the plugs have been done.
I would consider a pair of pollen filters, treatment & A/C regas if you don't know when they were last done.
