all like going really fast - all track related stuff here

The old racing @ snetterton thread has changed into a general chat about getting out on track. So I have decided to add this thread and abandon the old one.

Add as you see fit guys.

Last Years AROC Donington track day

For you guys still thinking about the AROC Donington Track Day, click the link below, it has all the pictures from last years meet, I have spent most of the evening looking through these. Seen a nice 156 GTA in one of the folders, nice one Simon.

Re: all like going really fast - all track related stuff here

Gentari,
xstremesports charged me £30 for a cd of those 15 shots of my car, but a good momento nonetheless. This year I am intending to bring along a mate who does a bit of photography in his spare time.

Sounds like a plan, I will bring my camera and try get some good shots too.

If Paul and any of the other East Anglians go then we can do another line-up, maybe on the track this time.

Re: all like going really fast - all track related stuff here

Unfortunately not this year.
I would have to go to one of Donny unsilenced days I think first, and get measured for sound there while I'm at it.

My car is way quieter than when I went last year, and was asked to leave soon after beginning because I substantially smashed their conservative 98db driveby limit
..Rigorously automatically computer enforced!
Many other track days are 105db, and I would have passed the 98db static test if it was taken, but driveby results are very environment dependent.

I'm not sure is the placement of the sound monitering stuff on the exit of a 2nd gear corner picking up some induction noise from the supercharger probably at max rpm.
Somebody was telling me that apparently there can be random spikes of noise due to the sound reflecting under the car from the s/c and back towords the listening source.

Its a hell of a track though, I loved all of the measly 6 laps I got in (3 of these being no-overtaking warmup ones..)

Cheers,
TB

I'm not a doctor - but I really do recommend braking later

Shame you won't be there, but I hope I like the track as much as you did. It does look good from the YouTube stuff I have been watching.

I am trying to learn the track a little before I get on it.

Re: all like going really fast - all track related stuff here

All going a bit crazy here which is why I haven't posted.

Just sold the house - moving mid October into rented accommodation whilst our new place is being built - begining to look like we are gonna be a bit preoccupied - sorry I'll have to say no- I was really looking forward to this as well.

Always next time.

Paul.

Work commitments prior to our holiday mean I won't be able to make it this time. After our chat am really keen to have a go though so will look to sorting something out for the next one.

No worries, I am sure there will be more track days. I will be looking to return to Snetterton in the new year, maybe we can all go then, Paul may be available next time too.

I really am disappointed about missing this but we now have to pack a whole house up, store it, find somewhere to rent and oversee a build - from mid- October on - could be a little hectic.

The next time though - I'm your man.

Paul,
Could you not rent a wing of Castle Donington?
Good luck with the build, if you need any QS advice, "I'm your man"!

OK, just thought it was cool and thought I would try use my extreme computer guru skills to steal it...which worked

Will now go to the corner for 3 days...
