Javelin Track Days

Look around, I know the day I am going spectators are free. I should think most are.

Also look out to see if there is another Alfa Day this year, last year was great (Donington Park).

There's a Cadwell session 16 Feb. from Circuit Days - Home of the Track Day, Nurburgring 700 and Euro Enduro

I've just gone halves on a track car. MR2 turbo which has a dyno reading of 350bhp. Got to say Cadwell may not be the track to get used to a car like that.

Sounds like a beast, I think brakes will be key for that car...

Good Luck, post some pics or video if you can.

With that car the pictures are likely to be of the rescue crew pulling me from thecar and the Air Ambulance taking off

The guy I've gone halves with is a much more experience driver than me.... I'm worried that he'll get a copy of this months PPC mag which has an article on how to build a 700bhp MR2

I have not been around for a bit, but felt it was time to do a quick update...

If you can get a lap or two around Cadwell Park in or an any vehicle then do it.

I recently took my FTO up there and holy mother of fun it was excellent.

Good organisers and a fantastic circuit

Just come back to this thread and bemused to read my optimistic MR2 post.

So far... the MR2 has not been anywhere near a track!

1) Sledge hammer power as it came on-boost made it virtually undrivable (certain not the sort of control you'd want on a track). Took it to a specialist who said it was due to running the existing engine management/MAF that just didn't know what to do due to all the mods the previous owner had done.. £1200 for new ECU and rolling road set up

2) Turbo didn't survive rolling road session. £500 for replacement turbo

3) Water pump gave up a couple of days after turbo, £30 for new water pump.

4) Headgasket appeared to have been damaged as a result of failed water pump. £350 for replacement racing headgasket and bolts to be fitted.

5) Coolent still getting into engine (could have been bolt torque not right for our non standard engine...) another £350 for head gasket (this time head pressure tested as well... just to be sure).

6) Problem still not cured... decided rather than spend another £350 when we weren't sure what problem was (could have been a crack in the block given head appeared to be ok) we got a replacement engine for £600.

7) Car currently in 3 pieces (car, old engine, new engine) with bits being swapped to hopefully make a servicable car again.

Wish we'd got a Alfa 75 now
