(Neil - perhaps you could help with this?).

I am sorting out my next track day for March, but will not be using the Alfa. I will be taking out my Mitsubishi FTO for the first time.

I bought another car after realising that as I get better/faster I run the risk of stuffing it into a wall, as my daily drive I can't afford that to happen to the 147.

So the next track day featuring me and an Alfa will probably be Donington again next year.

Anyone wishing to join in and have some fun at Snetterton in March for a track day, then why not come along.

I will be trying to get to the 2008 season meet of the Alfa Romeo Championship, again at Snetterton, I will update with news when I have it, although it looks like early May for the first round, more info @ alfaracer.com.

I love my 147, flappy paddles rule, seem to have lost 3rd gear...

Hi Simon,

I will let you know details as I get them, at the moment calenders for 2008 are not sorted, but expect late march or early april, hopefully an open pit lane meet so we can get a lot of laps in.

Still have to sort the brakes, a wheel bearing and ensure the speed restricter is sorted (I don't want the 112 mph limit to hold me back) on the FTO, but will be loads of fun.

Neil, dont know what your plans are to remove the speed restrictor on the FTO but on mine I just put a KMH to MPH converter on the speedo cable and that sorted it. Unfotunately I was never going to get it going at 180 mph so it wasnt a problem

SPEEDO CONVERTER/DELIMITER MITSUBISHI GTO/FTO/EVO/CHIP on eBay, also, Mitsubishi, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Dec-07 10:54:19 GMT)

Theres one for you

Thanks Rafe,

It has already been converted, but by all accounts the chip can be put in 2 places, 1 does the kph/mph convert, the other does that and fools the limiter which is set to a figure of 180...ie 180 KM, so once into miles the likelyhood of getting to 180 MPH is zero. Will get an auto electrician to sort. I did have a sneaky go and the limiter does kick in...boo hoo.

No Worries, but I can definitely confirm that the one I linked to does de-restrict the car. Used one on mine and it worked!! Hope you get it sorted soon. They are a lovely drive at high speed, really planted!

Re: all like going really fast - all track related stuff here

This is my second FTO, so yeah I know the feeling, the first one was MIVEC and manual so best to drive, this one was just under £600 for the track so GR and Tiptronic, but still will be loads of fun.

Looking at springs at the moment, but think I will run it standard for the first outing.

Re: all like going really fast - all track related stuff here

I found the best thing to do was stamp on the loud pedal really hard and only change gear late, keep in the MIVEC Zone and everything is great hitting 100 in 3rd is a bit scary when you first do it...

Never mind, I will have a good run out in March (calender permitting).

Yeah but they just seemed a little.....lacking in something. The best thing i did was fitted nos to mine on a trottle actuator. That was much better

Re: all like going really fast - all track related stuff here

Looks like my first outing on track will be Snetteron on Feb 29th - a Friday...

It's only £99 for an open pit lane day so plenty of laps, should be good weather permitting.

DETAILS

anyone interested in coming along then why not? I will, as mentioned before, be in the FTO, but will trailer it up there with the 147.

The guys at Snetterton changed the day from Friday @ £99 to Saturday @ £159!!! Luckily I had already booked at the cheaper price and they moved me to Saturday free of charge

So if you fancy coming along then to play it just got a tad expensive, but being a Saturday it will be easier to get to and free to watch, there are often pretty nice cars there (probably not that many Alfas though).

Might be worth noting that Javelin are doing a track day at Snetterton on the Sunday 17th Feb, £109. There probably won't be many Alfa's there either, but i'm going to take mine!

Re: all like going really fast - all track related stuff here

You should be able to, Javelin days I have been to before have allowed spectators, and there are plenty of good spots to watch at Silverstone, Russell Bends and up by the Esses.

Looking forward to driving it though, only been there to watch touring cars etc up 'til now!
