New key from East Anglia region.

I know the subject of getting extra remotes/keys is a bit of an old chestnut on these boards but I need a spare key/remote for my 156SW and just want some local knowledge.
I realise I need to go to a main dealer and have spoken to Desira in Norwich who have quoted "about £190" .
Just want to be sure that it won't be any cheaper anywhere else in the region and to get people's views on Desira vs the other main dealers around here.
Any insight/info appreciated.

Re: New key from East Anglia region.

OK, so the lack of replies tell me that Desira will be no better or no worse than any other dealer in this respect....which is good because I ordered the key today.
I also found out my car was originally a Dutch import...so you learn something new every day.

Re: New key from East Anglia region.

Might be worth contacting Mario or Paul at:-

>> Avanti Autos <<

Liz recently lost her second set of keys (mine) for the 147 after putting her own through the washing machine so that the electronics no longer work.

In a final, desperate, move she went down to the communal bins of the apartment block where we live. Yep they were there - she had thrown them away.

I am not allowed to mention this btw.

Re: New key from East Anglia region.

Don’t take lack of replies as a sign of something being right or wrong. I put a post up asking for bits for my car and had no replies, not even any advice. I think the forum might be getting so big people just can’t keep up with the posts anymore.

Anyhow back to the problem… I’ve just a mot from them and I’ve been told about loads of problems, as in £1000’s worth on a 10 year old GTV. I’m holding judgement until I get a second option.

The option I get from them is that if it’s not a routine service, on a new car. They aren’t interested. I’ve had really poor communication from them and I’ve had to chase them twice to be told that it isn’t ready as they need to do more work, keeping in mind that I was only calling to make sure it was ready to pick up as they told me when they started the work! Thank goodness I didn’t go to pick it up then as agreed!

I hope I’m not doing them a disservice but on my current (and only) dealing, I don’t really rate them.

Re: New key from East Anglia region.

They are charging £146 plus another £40odd when they 'program' the key.
I would only use Desira if I have to (as in this case), but would usually go to Alfashop.

To be honest, unless anyone knows that I've been mugged, I don't suppose any saving elsewhere would be enough to justify the extra miles.

Re: New key from East Anglia region.

OK, all done £181.47 and no major dramas.
Took about 40 minutes... time well spent jumping in and out of the various Alfas in the showroom.

I'll let you know if the key explodes any time soon, nomad

I did briefly meet some of you at Snetterton when the ARCA races were there(May?).
I turned up... unlike some people, eh Paul.

I would love to come up...especially as that coast road is absolutely fantastic...but unfortunately I am 'otherwise engaged' as they say.
Sorry, but thanks for the invite and I will get along to something as soon as I can.
