Cool, but absurdly expensive.

Deary me!
It's pig ugly, ridiculously priced, has a name that smacks of golf clubs and freemasons' halls, and I'd be embarassed to be seen getting out of it. It's so uncool it's possibly the least cool car we've ever had. If it was better than a Reventon but cost £75 grand it still wouldn't be cool but it would have some credibility. As it is it's just stupid.

Its old folks like you two that hold back automotive design. You're the reason everything is a 'retro modern classic' like the fiat 500 and new mini.

I was also responsible for the downfall of Rover/BL/MG apparently. It has been well documented on here. Who knew I had such influence?
However, there's no sign o the blue oval starting to make a modern car in the shape of a MK1 Escort so not everyone is listening.

I can well understand how you could bring down BL. You're that sort of person
(and yes, you too have shifty eyes)

Priced close to the McMerc SLR and Porsche Carrera GT, far uglier than either, slower than both. Has silly exhaust pipes and is actually pig ****ing ugly anyway. Plus its engine is too small. Should be at least 11.3 litres and be a W27 and a half with 17 turbos. I may be being silly now. But its still uncool

Credit to Toyota, sorry "Lexus", for making such a bold concept into reality but it just isn't a cool car.
Dramatic shape, lots of clever features and a big price tag don't make it cool. Sorry Munky, it has nothing to do with holding back design.
However I agree Keithyboy's eyes are worryingly unusual. But I think that's because he's a civil servant, they are issued with them when they get taken on. I like the idea of him destroying all of the British motor industry - it has merit I'm sure he made a disparaging remark about Tuscans just before TVR went belly up. I've also seen his crayoned drawings for a Jaguar pick up looking like a 1950's Ford jobbie that he had smuggled into their design centre. This warrants more investigation. The man's an evil genius!
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
Ti experience: Months- 55; Miles- 71k;MPG (best)- 49.4; (overall)- 40.2; Front tyres shot - 16k (Conti's); 14k (Pirellis), 23k (Acceleras) Rears -30k,35k. Hunter Alignment done 30.6k (recommended). Front discs, pads, and lower n/s drop link @ 60k, Battery sudden death 62k/47mths; Steering reservoir fix £60; Wiper arm fixed £0; Cambelt/water pump & n/s upper ball joint done 70k
6/9/12 New Mito 135MA Distinctive added to the family

Cool like a Manga cartoon character.
Specifically one of those girls with very big, er, eyes and an absurdly tight blouse.

Uncool, not because of its looks, but because of the sheer amount of technology employed in it.

Nobody's mentioned it's called a Lexus Alfa. It deserves some marks off for that, as well as for being so techno-nerdy that Toyota make a loss on every one they sell.

I think that's a reasonable joe-public reading of 'LFA', and one that your mates are gonna hassle you about before they come to the conclusion that 'LFA' clearly stands for 'Lexus Fuji Apex'. If you were shortening 'Alfa' to fit on your cringeworthy personalised license plate, you'd come up with 'SXYLFA', 'LFA2NV' etc.

Still, where did you read that or learn about it? I'd like to know.

Fine. You got me. I came up with it myself. I've never heard it anywhere else.
I missed the part where we got told that 'LFA' stood for Lexus Fuji Apex. All I was aware of was that they'd taken to referring to their recent attempts at styling as "L-Finesse" and that "F" was to denote their sports models. These two things did not explain 'LFA' for me, so my conclusion was "Lexus Alfa? Hah, in your dreams Toyota. What's next, Lexus 4RE? Stick to Corollas.."
