Re: Jaguar XKR-S
cant decide on this one. a beautiful car but i prefer the equivalent Aston Martin, the V8 Vantage.
this may technically be a better car but it lacks something that the AM has, cant put my finger on what though.

What an absolutely gorgeous cracking car.
Pity it a Jag then: Uncool.
Just try it, you in the pub/bar someone comes up to you:
"What do you drive?"
"Umm... A Jag. "
"Wayhay Grandad, did you buy it off Inspector Morse?"
(And do you see how that conversation never ends
up like that if the answer to the question is Alfa? )

has it got something to do with the fact that AM has never had a mondeo based saloon?
i voted cool (just) anyway. they sound amazing

Re: Jaguar XKR-S
Lovely car definately coolish, just a bit jumped up style-wise the spoilers look almost aftermarket add-ons but good quality.
I wouldn't be ashamed to own it though, just that I wouldn't rave about it.

But sadly, we know how that conversation does end if the answer to the question is Alfa
Anyways, Big Jag = Cool. Just.

Re: Jaguar XKR-S
the only problem i can see is this is a full auto, where's the paddles as i doubt a proper manual is available. anyway would be nice to see a proper gearbox or at least some f1 paddles

Re: Jaguar XKR-S
I test drove the XKR and liked it quite a bit. I am sure the S is just enough to be cool!

Re: Jaguar XKR-S
But the old XKR is cooler, so this new XKR couldn't get sub-zero.
Edit: cooler except for the Grandpa dash, bought off Inspector Morse..

Re: Jaguar XKR-S
I always wanted an XJR, just couldn't bring myself to step off the cliff face that is the Jag depreciation curve. I'd say they are all cool, except X Types and S Types, obviously.

Re: Jaguar XKR-S
Cool, but then I love all big cats,I have owned:
3.4 Mk VIII,
3.8 Mk II ( Morse model)
4.2 XJ6
3.6 XJ40.
so perhaps I am biased. The S type is only let down by its underpowered engine.

I voted Cool on performance and looks, sadly it will be ruined by the influx of MD's and Suits' on the M6

Re: Jaguar XKR-S
It's "nice" and most people have a bit of a soft spot for Jags but it isn't cool.
The modern Jag identity is a mixed bag of "not quite" right images.
It is uncool because it an isn't quite kind of car. Not quite expensive enough, not quite cheap enough to be really good value, not quite as stylish as an Aston, not quite as sporting as...well almost any junior exotic.
And the R-versions always seem like marketing after-thoughts rather than the cutting edge leaders they ought to be.
So not cool for me.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
Ti experience: Months- 55; Miles- 71k;MPG (best)- 49.4; (overall)- 40.2; Front tyres shot - 16k (Conti's); 14k (Pirellis), 23k (Acceleras) Rears -30k,35k. Hunter Alignment done 30.6k (recommended). Front discs, pads, and lower n/s drop link @ 60k, Battery sudden death 62k/47mths; Steering reservoir fix £60; Wiper arm fixed £0; Cambelt/water pump & n/s upper ball joint done 70k
