Defo cool, just misses out on sub-zero through being a wee bit too bland.
And you should always get the hard-top, can't be seen as a hairdresser

I quite like it because of that engine. I am not keen on the Japanese styling though.

Re: Honda S2000
A serious contender for my next car........... all I need to do is put off doing the bathroom, front drive, kitchen, decorate the whole house......you get the idea.
By the time I can afford it my 156 will be appreciating in value as a classic!

Re: Honda S2000
Anyone who says it's bland has never driven one.
For 'driven' read: come off a roundabout sideways at 8500rpm
May look a little understated in the styling department but it is a lairy little hyperactive terrier of a car and will bite your arm and hump your leg at the same time.
Definitely NOT for the hairdressers.
Just misses out on sub zero cos the interior is cr*p (maybe I'm just spoilt with the GTA)

Re: Honda S2000
Cool but at the low end. Definitely not sub zero. Great engine, iffy-bland styling, good handling, not too common = just about cool.
Cooler if piloted by a chic female. (No not VBH).

You don't have to have driven anything to decide if it is cool or not. You are talking about chassis and performance. In isolation it doesn't make a car cool. Neither does its looks. The styling IS bland, the interior is pretty ordinary, not horrible but ordinary. The car is still cool - just.

OK, maybe it is seriously uncool. How big a kn0b do you reckon th driver looks to everyone else at 8500rpm and sideways on a roundabout while he thinks he is the dog's danglies?

I had to force myself not to give it 'seriously uncool' because after all it does have a digital dashboard.
But it's a Honda. It's a bland-looking convertible sportscar with a nerdy inline four engine. It's MX-5 Type R.
Yes I'm sure it's fast, but (here comes that same argument again) so is the Renault RenaultSport SportMegane 220 Cup R26.R Williams F1 Team Championship Sporty Sport-Sport Edition.
With chequered flag decals.

Re: Honda S2000
I think it is supercool just because it probably has the most incredible production 2.0 l engine in the world (if not the best pound for pound engine, full stop). It also happens to be an astounding car to drive and reasonably good to look at, but I am an engine geek and that is enough for me on it's own.
The cool wall is of course all about opinion and nothing to do with fact.

Re: Honda S2000
I wouldn't call the VTEC engine the best 2l engine made. If it's run low on oil. It eats its big ends. It suffers badly from heat soak. Needs pricey fuel to get the most outta it. I prefer the B series honda engines sound better imo.
Cool car though one of the lads I know has a Yellow one looks well.

Cool, cute, Japanese plaything. But only for the ladies, and maybe the odd wealthy Japanese businessman in a bar in Tokyo too.
