Ascari KZ1
A very peculiar car. I uses parts from a few different manufacturers, but it's fast, and quite exclusive as well. Not bad for a "frankencar".
Engine: S62 BMW M5 V8
Displacement: 4,941 cc
Power: 500 bhp @ 7,000 rpm
Torque: 405.7 lb·ft @ 4,500 rpm
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 3.9 seconds
Top speed: 200 mph (321.9 kph)

Re: Ascari KZ1
How can a French car ever be described as 'super'? Shocking!

Re: Ascari KZ1
Bit too kit-car for my taste but definitely a cool car, given it'll outrun most cars out there.

Re: Ascari KZ1
Uncool.
It a "bitsa" car for me. Not exactly a posh kit car but not a proper small volume exotic. The looks are a mish-mash derivative affair and it doesn't have a very balanced appearance. It had a bit of a turgid off-on gestation period too so it even looked slightly dated when it was eventually launched.
Being quick and "exclusive" don't cut it any cool credentials in my book.

You are probably thinking of the Venturi Atlantique perhaps? Late 90's.

Re: Ascari KZ1
I think they were going for a McLaren F1 type of beasty and ended up with a kit car. Packs a punch, looks like it means business and the Ascari circuit is about 150kms from me where you can get to see one first hand. A smidge over room temperature cool for me...

Re: Ascari KZ1
A very expensive kit car.
Just because it's rare, expensive and fast'ish it won't be cool.
Cool is it not.
A kit car like the Lotus Super7 and it's derivatives is cool, because it's cheap, intelligent and stripped down to the bare roots just there to have fun and - most importantly - cheap as chips. Build it in your own shed, if you like.
The Ascari is built in a shed, but not your own, deffo not cheap as chips and that is not cool. Sorry. Uncool in my view...

Cool, saw it at Goodwood and it's a lovely looking machine. Looks a lot better in black, not keen on any car in road-spray grey

Re: Ascari KZ1
Those who think it is just a expensive kit car need reminding that that is the sort of car us brits do best.
Remember the Maclaren F1? This is a similar concept.
TVR's were also a similar concept and they were some of maddest baddest cars on the road.
