Opel Manta A
I picked the A series as it was the original, plus I like the way it looks.
Oh, the first three photos are from Opel ads, so no aftermarket mods this time.

Re: Opel Manta A
BTW, just so that we're clear, the randomizer did pick the Manta, but when I began looking for information about it, I learned that there were 3 different versions, and since no version was specified when the car was requested, I picked the A series.

Re: Opel Manta A
This car makes my stomach turn,it brings back childhood memories when blokes rougher than sandpaper posed with it at the local roadhouse. His 16 year old pregnant girlfriend in the passenger seat doing her nails and him drinking brandy and coke concealed in a coke can.Country and Western music blaring on the 8 track tape.

Re: Opel Manta A
I had to think about this one.
When they came out I'd have said cool straight away. Now it does look dated, of an era.
The GTE was THE one to have, but a killer. It didn't corner.

Re: Opel Manta A
My opinion is the opposite of PG's ie. uncool when it was launched but kinda retro-cool now.

Re: Opel Manta A
I had one, and it was my fave car until I had the 156, it even lives in a more cherished part of my memory than my old 'Vette...
When I was about 10 a chinese lad had one of these and I thought it was sooo cool, my old man reckoned they'd all be scrapped by the time I could drive And guess which one, the actual car I bought Ha Ha Yep JUE 3L fitted a later 2.0 lump instead of the 1.9 Opel unit.
Some comments on here are quite clearly about the later ones, not the A series
See this one
Opel : Manta 3.9 V8
Now that is cool, and in black it would be sub zero
Bright Yella Fiat Stilo 3dr 1.9 jasons tractor diesel Cruise, dz climate, n leather, so many toys I pop in here to have a look now and again-but don't know what to say Written off in the prime of life...My Bella .
2.5 V6 SP3 156 Cosmos Blue, Black Momo leather, Carbon dash.Freeflow cat, pipercross filter,Smoked repeaters, Scuddetto centre grill, blacked out side grille bars.

Too true of the B series, but not the A

Re: Opel Manta A
I'm kinda stuck between uncool and just-about-cool with this.
I think it was a pretty cool car when new, especially the black and silver turbo or the 400 homolgation special, but now it just doesn't do anything for me - so I don't even go for the retro-cool vote on it.
It's not awful or particularly ugly but it is a bit dull and dated looking.
Sorry to any Opel lovers but I think it is uncool.

Re: Opel Manta A
I've voted cool because as a kid growing up in the 80s one of my school freinds dad had one in white I think it was an end of line GTE, brutish thing, but in the playground war that is "Whose dad has the best car" well, Craig Wilmot you won that one mate

Re: Opel Manta A
Definatly cool, but I can see that if you didn't lust after one in period, then looking a fresh at it now time hasn't been to kind to the proportions. It's the same with the Sunbeam Rapier fastback, something not quite right there.
The later ones were formidable machines, particularly the Manta 400's those were the last RWD cars to take the fight to the 4WD Quattro's.. and still come out on top... on tarmac at least.

Re: Opel Manta A
There were a lot of 'cut & shut' cars on the road because the handling was so bad and so many got wrecked !!
Cool car though !!
