It should, but they were allowed to play with their output figures in those days to make the car more attractive, E type Jaguars being another example of the art
I voted cool, but not sub zero because of the snobbery that goes with them.

23 pints of engine oil, or thereabouts, and if it has a pal of mine's name on the engine build plate from back then, it's a good Un'. :

Re: Aston Martin DB5
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous cars. They would be sub-zero except for one thing: their claim to fame is that it's James Bond's car. So if you buy one, you'll spend your life having people ask you "has it got machine guns and an ejector seat mate?!" Either that or they'll assume you only bought it so you could drive around pretending you're 007.
Uncool.

Re: Aston Martin DB5
Goes along with the Sack Marples graffiti on the M1 bridges, does that motor, don't it? Time and place for everything, and roads that were enjoyable to drive, in any motor, or on any two wheeled machine, with an engine above 50cc's. Those were the days, says Grandad!

Re: Aston Martin DB5
I've driven a classic Aston around parts of Britain, and the reaction you get from people you pass and meet tells you: this is a sub zero car.
And the accusation of snobbery above couldn't be further from the truth. This is a 'peoples car' in a way. You get people being enthusiastic about it, coming up and talking to you about it, where if you had a Ferrari they'd just sneer and think you were a poser.

Re: Aston Martin DB5
I voted cool.
If it's not a silver Bond car looky-likey then it can be considered sub-zero. However most do seem to be silver and I think that the owners enjoy being asked about ejector seats and so on, thus courting attention and preventing their car from being really cool.

You can ask about it if you can get past the ropes on the brass poles and the hooray Henry owner can stoop to speaking to a mere mortal.
Guess who's had a bad experience at a show?
