Pagani Zonda
We know it's super fast, it's Italian and very rare.
But is it cool?

Re: Pagani Zonda
Tough one to call. I have seen two by now but despite being impressive, the car just doesn't look right to me, tries too hard. I'd say Uncool

Re: Pagani Zonda
Its cool alright. Its just not quite sub-zero. Like you say, it does try too hard. But that doesn't stop it from being cool - it is a supercar afterall

I'd say cool, but it does look like it's out of a science fiction movie.

Re: Pagani Zonda
One thing that's NOT cool about it is the short bonnet. I think Supercars should be more long-bonneted, with the driver sitting way back. I know mid-engined cars are all the rage but I prefer front-engined rear-wheel drive supercars like the Ferrari 575 and 599, Aston Martins, Maserati's, and of course the iconic Chevy Corvette

Re: Pagani Zonda
I think it's sub-zero, it know's what it is and does it awesomely well, also following the Zonda in EVO Magazine's story also brings to light how awesome a machine this is.
I also think that your joe shmo in the street wouldn't even know what it was which also adds to it's appeal, your not buying it to show off your buying it for pure driving pleasure.

Re: Pagani Zonda
Harry Metcalf, of Evo Magazine lives near me, he has a Zonda F..
I saw him drive past in it and it looks and sounds amazing.
I know it is utterly impractical, and flash but I cannot see how it can be anything but sub zero.

Re: Pagani Zonda
Not what Gibbo said.
Just imagine picking up your GF with it - it's a boy toy - all muscle and BHP and torque, and as such it is acceptably cool. As a car, however, it don't cut the mustard. Seriously would-be, tries too hard and in the end: totally uncool.
Moreover: the hamster likes it...

Re: Pagani Zonda
It is a supercar, but only in the sense that it is shockingly quick. There ain't no replacement for displacement after all
Don't forget it does 0-60 in FIRST GEAR and hits 120mph in third in ten seconds. Now that is QUICK! If that doesn't make it a supercar I don't know what will.

Re: Pagani Zonda
There a three speed humps in my street and it's too wide to fit on my drive. That's seriously uncool as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Pagani Zonda
Wonder if one will turn up at the Bristol Italian day again this year.
The orange thing last year looked like a kit car - design didn't seem to work as a whole with too many "pods" and bulges. Now compare that with the Gallardo or Murcielago which do look like they were designed as a whole...
My verdict is "Seriously Uncool"

Re: Pagani Zonda
Cool
Outrageous looks, sci-fi different, lovely little design features, almost bespoke build by the factory, exclusive, expensive, and utterly usable.
Yes, it does try a bit too hard and lacks a bit of pedigree so falls short of sub-zero status IMO.
But anyone who is knocking points off because its "impractical" or might "struggle with speed humps", is "hard to park" are missing the point. Just like price, it has nowt to do with coolness. If they were valid criteria in this game, it would rank rubbish like Metro or Pug 306 over pure driver's cars, stylistic dreams and supercars.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
Ti experience: Months- 55; Miles- 71k;MPG (best)- 49.4; (overall)- 40.2; Front tyres shot - 16k (Conti's); 14k (Pirellis), 23k (Acceleras) Rears -30k,35k. Hunter Alignment done 30.6k (recommended). Front discs, pads, and lower n/s drop link @ 60k, Battery sudden death 62k/47mths; Steering reservoir fix £60; Wiper arm fixed £0; Cambelt/water pump & n/s upper ball joint done 70k

Re: Pagani Zonda
But, keep in mind that you can't really ask for pedigree from a company that's been producing cars for just a few years.
