Car wash help needed please
guys,
can you help please?
my pop's new car is a lovely deep blue. Very nice, but where my folks live, the air is dusty and the rain carries a lot of sand. So, his motor looks great when washed, but within 24hrs, the dust (and rain) leaves it with red streaks.
Are there any car wash shampoos or post-wash treatments that are very good at repelling sand etc? I can't believe this is an uncommon problem globally, so if you can suggest a product, i'll buy it for him. Maybe AO's detailers can help please?
Cheers guys - thank you for your help
Even in the darkest hour, love comes shining through.
Then it doesn't seem so far from me to you.

I reckon you will find a better answer there
Hopefully one of our friends from Aus will be able to answer.
My guess would be a good polish and wax but with a good sealant to help make the surface as slippery as possible to try and stop the dust from sticking.... But I am no detailing expert

it is a 2009 Leon, Ros. My dad is very happy with it. He - naughty boy! - is already looking at ECU remaps. Retired folks have too much time on their hands, i tell thee

Hey, GJ! Good evening to you, squire Hello mate
A garage is not an option, alas; one would take up the space where his grapes grow, so a garage is a no-no.
I'm interested in the sealants proposed by Alfa Vincent, so any info on these would be appreciated
(the last few letters on his number plate are FZN - 'For Zany Nonno' sums up his Leon )

Only thing I can think of is avoid silicone based products as they are more likely to attract dust

Give it a decent layer of a decent wax (HD Wax by AG is my prefered choice) and top this up as part of each wash with AG's rather brilliant Aqua Wax
Love the Leon's. The FR is a stunner & a million times more stylish & interesting that a Golf

thanks Simon i'll look into your recommendations
His Leon isn't an FR, alas; it's a 1.9TDi - i've only driven it once, and it's a very flattering car to drive, inasmuchas it smooths over your driving bodges. He's happy with it

Can they get AG in Aus ? If so I would agree with SR. One good coat of HD wax and the sandy dust should just rinse away with a hose when you next wash. AG Aqua Wax on subsequent washes - a miracle product.

Scudetto isn't in Aus
I just mentioned Aus because I know we have/had a few detailers from there on the forum and assumed some of them must deal with sandy conditions

PS. Buy your HD for c£20 off eBay as opposed to £40 off Halfords.
PPS. Buy you Aqua Wax as Express Wax in 5 litre trade form. 750ml for c£10 versus 5 litres for c£25
