Help! How to keep black alloys...black??

Love my black alloys but theyre a pain keeping them black. once I have washed them I notice very quickly they turn to a matt black rather than shiney black.

Are there any products out there anyone can recommend to apply on the alloys after cleaning to keep them looking glossy black for longer than an hour

Cheers
Paul

Auto glym have a product which you spray on and it seals the wheel and stops brake dust build up etc but have u tried using a polish on them because dont they have a chrome finish?

Only thing I tried mate was washing them in AG Shampooo and leaving to dry afterwards. Because of their finish they tend to look a bit faded when the water dries. I wreckon I could go round and individually dry each wheel but that would take me hours! I am thinking of something similar to what I use on the tyres, just to keep them looking smarter for longer.

p.s. mate Zac dropped my Iphone 4 and broke it so I have no phone now till early next week at best

If you let them dry off then you will have water marks on them which will make them look faded,I would defo polish them up with a product designed for the finish of the wheel or buy a spray to protect from brake dust etc. Mate text me when your phone is working again and ill try and look out for you in the new motor mate

You need to apply a dedicated wheel wax like Rimwax, Poorboys or Chemical Guys wheel sealant.

Simply washing them and letting them dry won't keep them like that for long.

Also once you have applied a wax don't use an alloy wheel cleaner or anything harsh as it will instantly strip off any protection.

Hmm... if it was me.. and I didn't have 3 days to wash my car.. I'd be tempted to give them a wipe with the same stuff I put on my tyres.. (usually Halfords or Turtle Wax tyre shiney). That's slightly oily and doesn't hurt the paint ..

If there's more time.. wipe the face of the wheels with your drying towel (chammy) to get the main water droplets off.. then when they're fully dry, get your Mr Sheen out.. quick squirt and then wipe.

if you don't rinse every single bit of ag shampoo of it will matt your wheels, i learnt that one. wash em, rinse then dry and i use turtle wax extreme, my wheels shine like new and they also make the wheels easier to wash.

I had my wheels refurbed a few months in smoked chrome, the guy told me you should only use a good quality car shampoo on alloys and a good wheel polish/sealent to protect it from brake dust.

So all I use is chemical guys wash and wax shampoo and will probably protect them every 4 months with chemical guys wheel guard ....Come April am going to clay the wheels and then use the wheel guard again lol
